Miami and Columbus drew 1-1 in a game that featured star power from Gonzalo Higuaín, Gyasi Zardes, Kierran Gibbs, Lucas Zelarayán and many more. Costa Rican international Ariel Lassiter scored first for Miami, assisted by Higuaín, but the Crew’s Derrick Etienne scored in the 87th minute after a play built up by Zardes to split the spoils.
The Charleston Battery defeated Charlotte FC by a score of 1-0 after Aidan Apodaca’s 13th-minute strike proved to be the match-winner. The Black and Yellow kept Charlotte at bay in the visitors’ first match in front of their fans – who provided plenty of action of their support section in the West Stands despite the result.
Action will resume Tuesday, February 15, with a doubleheader when Charlotte face Columbus at 5 p.m., and the Battery take on Inter Miami at 8 p.m. Fans can catch both matches with a single doubleheader ticket starting at $20 on SeatGeek.
