Charlotte FC and Columbus Crew drew 0-0 in a spirited match to open the night. Charlotte debuted their newly-minted Community Kit, giving fans a first look at their second kit for the club’s inaugural season. The Crew held off a late push by Charlotte that nearly saw the North Carolina outfit claim victory, if not for a goal line clearance by Columbus.
The Charleston Battery fell in their second match of the tournament, a 1-0 result against Inter Miami CF. The game had been scoreless for much of the evening until a 77th-minute breakthrough by Miami’s Ariel Lassiter proved to make the difference. The Black and Yellow fought for an equalizer but were ultimately unsuccessful in the bid.
Miami ascended to top of the CCC22 table following the day’s results.
Action will resume Friday, February 18, when Charleston face Columbus at 8 p.m., in a match with trophy implications. Fans can secure a spot at the game with tickets starting at $20 on SeatGeek.
