It’s another day and another week of your favorite written segment, Mailbag Monday. There may be a few we haven’t been able to nail down the answers to, but we pinky promise that we’ll get there. Here goes nothing…
Submitted by Chris H.: “I have a 6-year-old son in the Rapids program that loves soccer and has been begging to watch the Colorado Rapids. I love that the new Charlotte Independence SC can now shift his focus/fandom to a local team. Will there be opportunities for the kids to interact with the club/players/organization and feel they are a part of it?”
Super great question, and we are glad you asked it! That is exactly the culture and type of community we are aiming to build as the Charlotte Independence Soccer Club. Currently, it is all VERY early in the process of figuring out what it will look like, but it’ll all start to get rolling at our Charlotte Independence Soccer Club night coming up here on June 15th. We have big plans and dreams in motion to get the players more involved with the lower level teams, and get the boys and girls more involved at “first team” soccer games. Stay tuned đ

Next up Andrew will join the USMNT Summer Combine Training Camp with the senior team members and the U-23 players and that will run May 26th – June 2nd. After that, the USMNT will announce their 23-player Gold Cup roster on June 6th. Around that same time, the USMNT will make final Gold Cup preparations with tune up games against Jamaica on June 5th at Audi Field and against Venezuela on June 9th at Nippert Stadium.
Tweet from @jas_bai: “what games do we expect Maria & George to miss while playing in the Gold Cup?”
We don’t have a good answer for this. You could probably lump Andrew’s situation in with these two. But it's good to be aware of the schedule ahead.
Maria will be with Curacoa in the King’s Cup versus Thailand and either India or Vietnam before the team’s first Gold Cup match in Jamaica against El Salvador.
Kevan will meet the Trinidad & Tobago team in Japan for a tune-up game on June 5th. After that, Trinidad & Tobago is scheduled for one final friendly against Canada in Los Angeles before their Gold Cup campaign begins against Panama.
