Charlotte NC. (May 11, 2021) – The Charlotte Independence today announced the club has acquired midfielder Jordan Bender on a full-season loan from Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC. Under the terms of the loan agreement, Orlando City retains the right of recall at any point of the season.
“We’re very excited to have Jordan join us. He’s a very talented and exciting player,” stated Charlotte Independence General Manager and Head Coach Mike Jeffries. “Jordan is an exciting attacking option, who gives us a different look as we play forward. He will add to our group on both sides of the ball. We appreciate Luiz Muzzi and Coach Oscar Pareja for working with us to reach this agreement.”
“Jordan is a young player that has shown us a lot of potential and that we can see a bright future for in our Club,” said Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi. “We’re sending him to a club and a coaching staff that we know well, one that is close to us and a place where he’ll get valuable game minutes to further his development. This is a situation that works out well for everyone involved and we’ll be eagerly watching Jordan’s progress over this period.”
Bender, 19, signed as a Homegrown player with Orlando City on Dec. 12, 2019, becoming the first Orlando player to make the journey up the Club’s development pyramid from the Academy to Orlando City B and finally a First Team contract.
