A little over a year after the ground breaking of the brand new CHI Memorial stadium, the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC are set to play their home opener against FC Tucson in Chattanooga, TN on Saturday, August 1st at 5:00 PM EST. In 2019, the Chattanooga Red Wolves played all home matches at David Stanton Field while awaiting the completion of the clubs new home. This will be CHI Memorial Stadiums Inaugural home opener, as it marks the beginning of an era where CRW will be able to host games in their own professional stadium which includes FIFA-Quality turf and an incredible atmosphere.  

CRW met FC Tucson three times in the 2019 season going 0-2-1 against them on the year. After a tough 4-0 loss at Kink Sports Complex in May of 2019, CRW bounced back on the next matchup and pulled out a hard fought 1-1 draw in Chattanooga at David Stanton Field. FC Tucson ended up getting the best of CRW by winning the third game 1-0 at home putting FC Tucson 2-1-0 over the Red Wolves on the year. At the conclusion of the season, however, CRW placed 5th in the table with 40 points on the season which was three seeds higher than FC Tucson who finished in 8th place with 33 points. After placing over FC Tucson at the end of the 2019 season, CRW will be looking to improve on overall league performance will attempting to get the better of FC Tuscan in the 2020 season beginning on Saturday.

The Red Wolves go into this weekend’s match after picking up a point on the road in what proved to be a dramatic season opener against Tormenta FC. The multi-goal contest was an attacking battle that ended in a 2-2 draw. Tormenta FC struck first in the first half and entered half time with a 1-0 lead. The Red Wolves then scored back to back goals in the second half to take the lead over Tormenta FC with an incredible performance from Greg Hurst who scored both goals with an assist each by Ami Pineda and Ricky Ruiz. Tormenta FC scored a scrappy goal late in the game to pull out the draw. These performances earned CRW players league recognition as Greg Hurst made the USL League One Team of the Week, accompanied by Ami Pineda who also put in a strong performance. CRW will be looking to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday against FC Tuscan who enters the game coming off of a 2-1 win against Inter Miami II.

The Chattanooga Red Wolves are set to defend their new home in CHI Memorial Stadium on Saturday against FC Tucson. Kickoff is set for 5:00 EST, as the Red Wolves look to grab their first win of the season after a tough battle that resulted in a hard fought draw on the road at Tormenta FC. Although only in week three of the season, this will be a key matchup as both teams sit top 5 in the USL League One standings. FC Tucson (1-0-0) is ranked 2nd in the league going into Saturday night’s game as the Red Wolves (0-0-1) look to improve on their 5th place ranking. The USL League One power rankings however, have CRW sitting in 3rd while FC Tucson follow in 5th place. The Red Wolves are ready to defend their home turf and attempt to neutralize FC Tucson’s attack, who registered 16 shots on goal against Ft. Lauderdale who were reduced to nine men.

Greg Hurst proved to be a key player in the season opener after scoring both goals and will look to expand on his goal tally. Hurst was incredibly dangerous in week 2 after taking 3 shots with all of them being on target. After scoring 2 goals out of 3 shots, Hurst currently has a goal conversion rate of 66.7%, averaging 36 minutes per goal. If he can manage to continue to get into dangerous positions and maintain his accuracy, Hurst will be a key offensive piece and will play a crucial role on Saturday.

Amirgy Pineda will be an important player to watch this weekend coming off of a solid performance in the midfield. In the season opener, Pineda helped run the midfield maintaining an impressive 72.7% passing accuracy rate while attempting 33 passes over the course of 90 minutes. On defense he won 11/16 duels and made 2 tackles while contributing to the offense with a crucial assist, his first of the season. He will look to dictate the flow of the game and run the midfield in the upcoming match up.

Ricardo Zacarias, a new January signing, will also look to leave an impact on the game at center-forward this weekend. Zacarias is a goal-scorer, with a great deal of experience playing in Mexico, most notably at Club America. Zacarias played a good game against Tormenta FC as well, and he has been the subject of high praise from Coach Obleda. He will hope to get on the score sheet and score his first goal for the Chattanooga Red Wolves on Saturday.

The Chattanooga Red Wolves will look to begin this new era in CHI Memorial Stadium with a strong performance and a win on their inaugural home opener on Saturday. They have been training for weeks in preparation for this moment, and will hope to see all of their hard work pay off on the field. The Red Wolves will strive to win in this important match up in order to pick up their first win and establish themselves as a strong team and a force to be reckoned with in USL League One.

USL League One announces the League One Team of the Week for the 2nd week of play. The Chattanooga Red Wolves lock down two spots on the starting eleven with Ami Pineda in the mid-field, and Greg Hurst as a forward. Both of them had an outstanding showing during the season opener at Tormenta FC, and with Hurst collecting two goals and Ami contributing an assist to one of them. 

Greg is an emerging player that proved himself shortly after acquiring him in August of 2019. Hurst has had a break out of an opener, but there will be more to come. Ami Pineda will continue to control the offense as it passes through the midfield, and will be a force to be reckoned with as the team prepares for its inaugural home opener in CHI Memorial Stadium.

GK – Joe Rice, New England Revolution II: Rice recorded a four-save shutout and was accurate with his distribution, completing 16 of 21 passes and 5 of 10 long passes in the Revolution II’s scoreless draw with Union Omaha.

D – Daniel Jackson, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Jackson scored a late equalizer for Tormenta FC to cap a good overall outing that saw him complete 23 of 28 passes and make 11 recoveries in a 2-2 draw against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.

D – Lamar Batista, North Texas SC: Batista had a strong all-around game on the back line, winning 5 of 6 duels and four interceptions while completing 118 of 126 passes in NTSC’s victory against Forward Madison FC.

D – Oliveira Eliverton, FC Tucson: Eliverton had one assist and three chances created in attack and was solid defensively, winning 15 of 21 duels and 5 of 8 tackles while recording two interceptions.

D – Tyler Polak, Greenville Triumph SC: Polak recorded one assist and had three chances created overall, and also completed 24 of 32 passes and made three interceptions and four recoveries in Greenville’s victory.

M – Marco Micaletto, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Micaletto scored the opening goal for Tormenta FC and was creative throughout, recording five key passes while completing 17 of 22 passes overall

M – Amirgy Pineda, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Pineda had one assist and four chances created for the Red Wolves while winning 11 of 16 duels and completing 24 of 33 passes in a 2-2 draw against Tormenta FC

M – Devin Boyce, Union Omaha: Boyce was influential in the midfield for Omaha, recording two key passes, completing 34 of 41 passes overall and winning 9 of 14 duels as Los Buhos earned a point in New England.

F – Greg Hurst, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Hurst scored both of the Red Wolves’ goals in a 2-2 draw against South Georgia Tormenta FC while putting all three of his shots for the game on target.

F – Azaad Liadi, FC Tucson: Liadi recorded a goal and assist while registering seven shots and three key passes overall as Tucson rallied to a 2-1 victory on the road against Fort Lauderdale CF.

F – Jake Keegan, Greenville Triumph SC: Keegan recorded a pair of goals and put four shots on goal overall as the Triumph took their second consecutive victory to start the season in a 3-2 win against the Richmond Kickers.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (July 16, 2020) – Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and USL League One announce the 2020 full season schedule which highlights the inaugural home opener of CHI Memorial Stadium on August 1st and a highly anticipated season finale against Forward Madison at home. 

In a change approved by the League One Board of Governors this week, the regular-season schedule will now see each team play a total of 16 regular season games, with each club set to face every other team at least once over the course of the schedule. The top two teams in the regular season will advance to the 2020 League One Final, which will be played the weekend following the conclusion of the regular season.

This compressed season presents a lot of opportunities and challenges for coaches and players. “It’s going to be a sprint not a marathon,” says Head Coach Jimmy Obleda. “The team that is the most focused and fit is going to be the most successful.”

Chattanooga will begin its season on the road against Tormenta FC on July 25th, before returning home for a historic match. On August 1st, the Red Wolves will play the first ever game in CHI Memorial Stadium, taking on FC Tucson marking the opening of Tennessee’s first professional soccer stadium. The final weekend of the season brings together two sides that sat either side of the playoff line a year ago when Chattanooga Red Wolves SC hosts Forward Madison FC for its home finale. 

Opening up CHI Memorial Stadium is something players and coaching staff have been looking forward to for a long time. “The time is finally here. The goal for us from the beginning is to establish a fortress in our new home,” says Obleda. “With the support of the fans, it’s going to be a place where teams don’t want to come play us. Even with attendance being limited, we want them to be loud and we’re going to mirror that energy on the field. They’re as important off the field as we are on it when it comes to being successful.”

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (July 9, 2020) – As the Chattanooga Red Wolves approach July 9th, the club reflects on the massive progress that has been made on their home, CHI Memorial Stadium, over the past year.

On July 9th of 2019, a collection of dignitaries, media and sports personalities gathered for an announcement that would change the Chattanooga sports landscape forever. Bob Martino announced a $150 million dollar mixed use development, including a $20 million professional soccer stadium, the first of its kind in Tennessee.

A year has passed since that announcement and much has happened since. Over the winter, an extensive amount of site work was completed. Early this spring CHI Memorial was announced as the stadium naming rights partner and throughout the spring and summer the Stadium has been taking shape as the FIFA-Quality turf and seating has been installed. 

“It’s been remarkable what the stadium development company has achieved, says Red Wolves GM & President Sean McDaniel. “Coming off the wettest winter in the history of Chattanooga and the COVID-19 pandemic and still managing to build a playable professional stadium in under a year is an amazing feat.” 

Even with all that’s been achieved in just a year, CHI Memorial Stadium and the mixed-use development still have a lot more coming. “While CHI Memorial Stadium will be able to host games this season, there is still much more to come. The stadium will continue to grow and develop throughout this season and into the offseason. Stadium amenities like the full scale Beer Garden, Executive Club, Suites and more are still to come,” says owner and developer Bob Martino. “Our initial focus was to deliver CHI Memorial Stadium at professional league standards in a 1-year time frame. Next, the construction of the supporting amenities for CHI Memorial Stadium as well as the commercial and residential units in the development will begin.”

The stadium and development will mean a lot for the local community, economy and tourism. “We are already seeing the increased impact that this project has had on the community and are excited for all of the growth that the future holds,” says East Ridge Mayor Brian Williams. “We’re so very excited to be able to watch our Red Wolves play at their home field this year in East Ridge, Tennessee. 

The vision, hailed by many as a Chattanooga-Centric version of The Battery, is a game changer for Chattanooga, East Ridge and Hamilton County.

Ultimately creating thousands of jobs, generating millions of dollars into the local economy and strengthening the community and sports tourism in the area. “We’re excited to watch this important project take shape and be able to contribute not only to the appreciation and growth of soccer, but to the community as a whole,” says Lisa McCluskey, Vice President of Marketing Communications at CHI Memorial. “We look forward to this innovative venue becoming a beacon for sports tourism, a place where we can work together to strengthen community health and wellness, and further economic development in our region.”

When it comes to the Red Wolves Soccer Club, the progress of CHI Memorial Stadium has been more than helpful. “The excitement of CHI Memorial Stadium opening, along with USL League One establishing a return-to-play date, has translated into a lot of sales,” says McDaniel. “With social distancing measures in place, our ticket sales team has already sold out 3 sections within the stadium and have been doubling weekly season ticket sales each week since the USL approved the return-to-play framework. The people of Chattanooga have rallied around CHI Memorial Stadium, and we have been fortunate to capitalize on the momentum that everyone in our community has played a part in creating.”

100% of Red Wolves senior girls are committed to play collegiate soccer as well as 13 senior boys. Out of that graduating class, 4 boys and 1 girl will be heading to some of the nation’s top D1 Programs. Team coached by Luidgi Beauzille’s. Three of the Red Wolves boys teams had players commit to playing in college; the 01/02 NPL boys coached by Danny McBride, the 01/02 Showcase boys coached by Jimmy Lessentine and the 01/02 boys coached by Andy Ward.

“Player development and growth is at the core of our organization’s purpose, helping get players on to the next level has always been a top priority,” says Red Wolves President Chad Mize. “They put so much time and effort into soccer and it’s our job to be there as a resource to help them excel.” 

The Academy has various initiatives to maximize college potential. “We hold College Recruiting Seminars, help players develop soccer resumes, email templates and a list of best-fit colleges,” says Mize. “ We hold academy college ID camps that are very well attended by collegiate coaching staffs. Our academy Juniors and Seniors play in as many high quality college showcases as our schedule allows. We also set up and play multiple preseason games against college teams, have college coaches occasionally attend our training sessions and scrimmages in addition to employing multiple college coaches within our academy for our Senior Academy teams.”

“These seniors have set a great precedent for future players graduating from our academy,” says Red Wolves Technical Director and First Team Head Coach Jimmy Obleda.”They’re a solid example for younger players in our academy and we wish them the best on the next stage of their soccer careers.”

Gustavo will be going to Bethel College in the fall of 2020. Gustavo is excited to take on this new challenge and is thankful for the work that Coach Danny and Coach Jimmy did during his time with CRWA. Gustavo’s motivation during training was to “play each game like the school you want to play for is watching.” He is an incredibly hard worker and a joy to be around. Gustavo looks forward to making new friends on and off the field and starting his new journey at Bethel College later this year. Congrats Tavo!

Catawba College

Channing Barker will be attending Catawba College this fall, and is an outside back. She was drawn to Catawba’s program after meeting Coach Nick Brown and hearing his vision for the program and players. She advises academy players looking to play in college “to make your decision based not only on soccer but also the environment and academics.” She’s excited to start this new journey alongside her Red Wolves Teammate Suzie Rodriguez. Congrats Channing!

University of Alabama Huntsville

Lucy will be playing at the University of Alabama, Huntsville this fall. She is a defender who can step into a defensive midfield position at any time. University of Alabama Huntsville Head Coach Jimmy Mitchell had been scouting Lucy since her sophomore year in highschool. When asked what advice she would give to CRWA’s younger players she stressed that it is important to “continue to work hard and put yourselves out there for coaches to see.” She looks forward to the next step and bonding with her new teammates on and off the pitch. Congrats Lucy!

Tennessee Wesleyan University

Pepe will be attending TWU in the fall, and play under CRWA coach, Luke Winter. Pepe is a brazilian goalkeeper who is remarkable with both his hands and his feet. He will be someone who will compete for a starting position as a freshman. Pepe is really appreciative of his coaches, and how they prepared him for the next level. He says, “The coaching staff is great and always do everything they can do to help you. By being consistent with that they have created a high quality program.” Pepe is a hard worker and has big things in store for him. Congratulations Pepe!

Yvan will be attending Bryan College this fall. He is very excited to commit to Bryan since the quality of the program is high and will be accompanied by several of his friends. Yvan reflected on his time with CRWA and wants to thank the coaches for preparing him well. “They challenged us and they were consistent which I think helped us become better players. I am appreciative of that.” Yvan is ready for the collegiate experience, and can’t wait to see where soccer takes him. Congratulations Yvan!

Lee University

Jenna will be attending Lee University this fall. She is excited about playing under her former coach, Coach Luigi and Academy teammate, Sophie Ramsuer at the next level. Lee has become an established name in the soccer community, winning 4 national championships in the past 12 years. Holistic excellence transcends the campus and the community, and Jenna will be right at home as soon as she arrives. Reflecting on her time with CRWA she says, “it was both positive and inspiring” which are characteristics that she witnessed while visiting Lee’s campus. For the younger players in the Academy Jenna leaves them with this piece of advice, “always push yourself and never quit. Always put yourself out there, and email coaches before traveling.” She is excited to pursue her education while playing the sport she loves. Congrats Jenna!

Tusculum University

Reagan will be playing at Tusculum University this fall. She’s a center midfielder, and will fit right in with the playing style of Coach Mike Joy at Tusculum. She’s focusing on obtaining her BSN and becoming a nurse. She chose Tusculum University because they have a good nursing program, a good team dynamic and it’s close to home. When asked about what advice she’d give to younger players in the academy, Reagan said,”It’s important to really know what you want before you begin looking at school. The process can be overwhelming at times. Have a few schools that you love and really pursue them.” The future is bright, and she looks forward to starting the collegiate season and meeting new friends. Congrats Reagan!

Covenant College

Charlie will be attending Covenant College in the fall, and is a recent graduate of Baylor. While there he was a goalkeeper that played under Coach Curtis Blair. He had a decorated highschool career and was able to win the 2018 high school State Championship and the 2019 Disney tournament for his division. He said he chose Covenant because he “loves the community at the school.” He is a long time friend of Head Coach Scott Bosgraf and values how much he cares for the players. He also wanted to thank Danny McBride who coached him while at CRWA. Charlie goes on to say, “Playing for Danny over the past few years has really shaped me as a player. He is an excellent coach and prepared me well to play at the collegiate level. We wish Charlie the best of luck and congratulations!

Shorter University

Alyssa will be joining the Shorter University soccer program this fall. She’s a great shot-stopping goalkeeper. Alyssa knew that Shorter was the place for her after meeting the players and coaching staff who welcomed her with open arms during her visit. Alyssa, who was sidelined by injury last season, tirelessly rehabbed and is ready to contribute once she steps on campus this fall. Her advice to younger players at CRWA is to “be the teammate that you wished you had. Put in the work today so you are properly set up for tomorrow. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but it is fun when you are doing it with some of your closest friends.” She is excited for her next chapter, and the new adventures in Rome, Ga. Congrats Alyssa!

Bryan College

Emily Karnes will be continuing her education and soccer career at Bryan College this fall, which has one of the most competitive conferences in the region. She is a strong defender known for her unbeatable work ethic. When asked what advice she would give to our younger players she says, “Enjoy the journey. you’re where you are because you love the sport. Don’t get too caught up in the future that you can’t enjoy what’s happening right now.” Emily is eager to be a part of the Bryan community, play the sport that she loves, and to see how it will shape her next four years while at Bryan. Congrats Emily!

Bryan College

Elias will be attending Bryan College in the fall. They have a great program, and have worked alongside the Dalton Red Wolves to create outstanding players like CRW’s very own Jonathan Ricketts. Elias is grateful for his time at CRWA and says, “The Red Wolves helped a lot, their coaches are very good coaches who push you to work harder and play harder. They took me to showcases, offered camps, and provided many opportunities that many clubs don’t get which is awesome and I appreciate their work they put in for my next step.” Elias is eager and ready to join Bryan’s soccer program and be a part of their community which was a notable attribute he picked up on while visiting. We are very excited for you Elias! Congratulations

Covenant College

Trevor will be attending Covenant College this fall as a Boyd-Buchannan graduate. One of his favorite soccer memories was playing his last CRWA match at the ESPN center in Orlando with both friends and family attending. “Being with CRWA has taught me what high level soccer looks like in addition to the discipline and professionalism to reach it.” Trevor chose Covenant knowing that it was the right place for him to be. Head Coach Scott Bosgraf was able to mentor Trevor through the coaching process and make the transition from club to college as easy as possible. In the anticipation for next season Trevor says, “I have worked hard and have given it my all for years. I am looking forward to playing in front of hundreds of fans next year who will soon become close friends of mine. Covenant is a cool place and I can’t wait to get started.” Congrats Trevor!

Averett University

Adrian will be attending Averett University in the fall. He is a graduate of Boyd-Buchannan and played on the CRWA 01/02 boys team. Choosing the right school can be difficult, but Adrian is very excited to be attending Averett and wants to thank his coaches for their guidance throughout this life decision. He is excited to begin his new journey as an Averett Cougar and said, “I’m looking forward to getting to work as hard each day with people who share a common goal with me. I love being able to meet people and using soccer to bond over a common goal.” We were glad to have Adrian be a part of our Academy program, and we wish him all the best in college. Congrats Adrian!

Georgia Southern University 

Miguel will be attending Georgia Southern University which is a Division I program in Statesboro, GA. He is a stand out player and will make an immediate impact on his new team. One of his favorite memories was during the game against Darlington Academy during the Disney Showcase. He scored two remarkable goals that helped put the team through to victory. Miguel is a player that exemplifies the qualities CRWA strives to create in a player. His advice for the younger players in the Academy is to, “surround yourself with friends that have similar goals to you. Dream big.” That is what he has done and we are proud of you. Congratulations Miguel!

East Tenn. State University 

Andrew will be attending ETSU in the fall and will be enrolling into their business program. He was very impressed with the school’s effort towards sports science, quality of education you receive, and campus’ facilities. Andrew has concentrated his efforts from a young age to obtain his goal, and would advise any younger CRWA players to maintain consistency in order to obtain substantial progress. He later says, “CRWA has given me the tools to succeed. By providing excellent coaches and the proper exposure I was able to place myself where I needed to be.” Andrew is a goalkeeper who will do big things. Playing at the Division I level is a special endeavor and we wish you all the best. Congrats Andrew!

Campbell University

Manny is attending Campbell University this fall, and will be one of the few Division I players coming out of the Academy. He is excited to experience the life of a DI athlete, but says he’ll never forget the trips down to the Disney Showcase, which he and his team won. He wants to encourage the CRWA players by saying, “things won’t simply be given to you. There will be opportunities, but you have to work for your goals in order to earn your achievements. Don’t make excuses because it’s better to fail and learn from it so that you can do better next time. Manny is an extraordinary player and we wish him all the best at Campbell. Congrats Manny!

Lee University

Sophia will be playing at Lee University this fall. Her move to the collegiate level will be seamless in part to Luidgi Beauzile, Sophia’s Red Wolves Academy Coach, is the assistant coach of the Lee University Women’s team. Lee University is renowned for both its soccer program and academic prowess. The university has won 4 national championships in the past 12 years. Sophie’s piece of advice to younger players looking to play in college is to “always watch players who are better than you. Whether you are watching a professional match, someone on your team, or even your opponent in the same position, you will take your game to the next level by growing and learning from them.” There is much excitement for her as she chooses to further her education and soccer career this fall. Congrats Sophie!

University of Tennessee Chattanooga

Amy will be playing for the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga this fall. She is a center forward and will be a great local talent competing at UTC’s Division I stage in the SOCON conference. Gavin McKinney’s program stood out to her during the recruiting process because of their focus on player development on and off the field and team full of accomplished players. “A piece of advice I would give younger players in the academy that want to play in college is to stay focused because it gets harder as you get into high school. You have to sacrifice doing other school activities and social events in order to travel and practice but in the long run, the benefits of playing in college is something not many people accomplish. All of the work and effort you put into soccer to become a better player pays off and opens up so many doors for your future.” Congrats Amy!

Catawba College

Suzie will be attending Catawba College this fall. She will be a goalkeeper playing in the Southern Atlantic Conference which is full of top talent and competitive schools. She was drawn to the school after meeting the players and seeing their dedication to becoming great both on and off the field. For those who are still in the Academy she says, “Nothing that has ever been worth doing is easy. There will be days when you feel defeated, but don’t let them discourage you from growing and improving.” She looks forward to meeting new people with a similar goal, and to room with her Red Wolves Teammate Channing Barker. Congrats Suzie!

Tennessee Wesleyan

Ryan will be attending Tennessee Wesleyan in the fall as a Chattanooga Christian School graduate. Ryan is an outside winger, and is a great example of what it looks like to work hard while having a good attitude. Ryan’s style of play positively affects the rest of the team because his grit encourages people to counter attack or collectively defend. One of the primary reasons Ryan chose to attend TWU was to be coached by Luke Winter and Billy Sparks, who are a part of the Red Wolves coaching staff at the Academy and semi-professional level. Ryan is “looking forward to growing as an individual player and as a team player” upon his arrival at TWU. We were glad to have Ryan be a part of the CRWA. Congrats Ryan!

Loyola University

Jeremiah will be attending Loyola University in the fall of 2020. He says he is really thankful for CRWA getting him in touch with the Head Coach at Loyola, and for giving him the confidence to make an impact on their roster. By doing so, it allowed him to make the commitment process easier. He goes on to say, “The Academy was able to give me the exposure to play against more competitive teams. This pushed me to become a better player, and developed my skill on the field and character off of it. Jeremiah is a sharp young man and says to the players that are still in the Academy “if you work more, you achieve more.” Jeremiah constantly strives for greatness and will be a great addition to Loyola’s soccer program. Congrats Jeremiah!

My favorite place I’ve lived would be DC. It’s a great city with tons of things to do. I had some of my best playing years there and made some great friends.
 

I’d like to see the young American for Dortmund, Giovanni Reyna, get some more time. He’s obviously fairly young, but I’d like to see him play more to continue his development which would  lead to a positive impact on our national team as well.

I think a dream vacation would be to go to Thailand. I’ve heard so many great things about people’s experiences going over there.

I wouldn’t say I’m great at cooking, but when I do I like to keep it fairly simple. My favorite dish to prepare is probably is chicken, bacon, and pesto gnocchi.

“You cannot control everything that will happen today. Yet you can completely control the person you will be today.”

To be completely honest I have not seen the movies or read the books, so I’m not even going to act like I know who those characters are… haha! 

I’d have to say Eamon would probably be the best get away driver.

My favorite movie would have to be Benchwarmers.
My favorite movie genre would be either comedy or thriller.
 

Best place for coffee would be Rembrandt’s.

Wanting to win is definitely a big motivation, but also to do well for my teammates and not let them down.

For me I’d have to say Wayne Rooney. His technical ability, his passing, his vision, and his goal scoring are all things I grew up watching and wanted to replicate.

TAMPA, Fla. (June 5, 2020) – The Chattanooga Red Wolves Soccer Club is pleased to announce that the League One Board of Governors voted today in favor of a framework returning the league to play for the 2020 season, with a provisional start date set for July 18th.

“Today’s announcement gives us a clearer direction to finally play professional soccer again in the Scenic City,” says GM & President Sean McDaniel. “We have all been anxiously awaiting for quite some time for establishing a safe return to play and it’s looking very good for us to do so soon. Everyone from the players to the fans can now start looking forward to the near future of enjoying the beautiful game in CHI Memorial Stadium.”

The Chattanooga Red Wolves have been training in small groups at CHI Memorial Stadium and, when deemed safe, will ramp up to full training leading up to the beginning of the 2020 season.

“The announcement is a big step for all of us,” says Head Coach Jimmy Obleda. “It gives us a tangible start that we can begin working towards. It allows the coaching staff and players to get in the mindset that we are going to be playing very soon. So let’s get ready” 

While additional information on competition format, scheduling and other important details will be made available in the coming weeks, it’s important to note that the league’s return will be conducted in strict alignment with all local and state public health guidelines and that this vote was an approval of the framework of the 2020 season with a provisional start date.

Chattanooga, TN. – Wednesday morning the Chattanooga Red Wolves Academy named former Vanderbilt Soccer Head Coach, Derek Greene, as their Executive Vice President.

“The opportunity to become part of a professional organization like the Red Wolves was very exciting,” says Derek Greene. “To be able to work around a great group of people and help build a brand in its early stages is an exciting challenge. The enthusiasm, vision, and commitment from members within this organization is contagious and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Coming off a successful first year that included breaking Soccer America’s top 100 clubs ranking, 5 players on the all American watchlist, 21 college commitments, a championship victory at the nation’s top tournament and acceptance into one of the top leagues in the country, it was without doubt that the newly minted Executive VP position would be of high demand. 

“We had interest and applicants from all over the country as well as internationally,” says Academy President Chad Mize. “We conducted several interviews with top-notch candidates and are excited to announce that Derek Greene will be our Executive Vice President. His experience and knowledge for the game paired with his energy and passion for growing youth soccer will fit in well with our organization.” 

“Our goals are to provide an experience that creates a true pathway to pro while making the sport as affordable and accessible to as many young players as possible,” says Greene. “Having an impact on the sport in the community is paramount and we want to help influence the game at all levels. Educating coaches and parents, developing players, and providing various levels of competition for our academy players is something we will take great pride in as we move forward.”

Greene has a lifetime of soccer experience under his belt. He played collegiate soccer at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and went on to play for the Chattanooga Express in the ’90s. He went on to coach 18-years of collegiate women’s soccer, which included programs such as Vanderbilt, Ole-Miss, Carson-Newman College, and Belmont University. Most recently he spent five years at Vanderbilt University, where he coached six All-SEC players, led the team to victories over two top-10 teams, and coached Simone Charley, who has recently played for the Portland Thorns of the NWSL.

Prior to being hired by the Red Wolves, Greene was the Director of Business Development at Tennessee State Soccer Association. During his time there, he led the in-market promotion of US men’s and women’s national team games, Man City vs Tottenham, and assisted in promoting Nashville SC’s inaugural game that set an attendance record for a soccer game in Tennessee. Greene also oversaw the Cleveland Grimes Friendship Cup which is named for longtime Chattanooga resident Cleveland Grimes, helped implement the Game Changer Project to deliver soccer in schools to underserved communities across Tennessee, and helped bring Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach to run youth camps in Tennessee, along with many other tasks.
