On November 1, 2020, at 1 pm, the Chattanooga Red Wolves will be hosting their first-ever “Sunday Social” which will include a free food tasting of CHI Memorial Stadium’s potential 2021 concession items, a happy hour, and several giveaways. Fans are encouraged to arrive by 1pm and the taste testing will begin shortly thereafter.
“We’re turning the stadium into an outdoor restaurant for the afternoon. It’s an exciting opportunity to get input from our fans on our potential concession items for 2021” Says President Sean McDaniel. “Going into the offseason, we want to have a greater understanding of what our fans would like to have on the menu for the 2021 season so that we could best serve them and create an incomparable fan experience.”
Fans will be able to enjoy a Sunday afternoon with friends and family at CHI Memorial Stadium and help influence the concession items available at CHI Memorial Stadium in 2021. Admission, parking and food will all be free for everyone who comes as long as supplies last. As fans partake in the many activities around the stadium, the Chattanooga Red Wolves will have their ticket team made available so if there are any questions about 2021, they will be properly equipped to handle those questions. The Chattanooga Red Wolves are set to take on the #2 Richmond Kickers in an away matchup on Saturday at 6:30 PM EST. Although the Red Wolves are no longer contenders for the postseason, the Richmond Kickers still have everything to play for, as they cannot afford a loss. Going into the final few matches of the season, Union Omaha and North Texas are both right on their heels within striking distance, as the teams battle for the final spot.
Chattanooga (5-5-4) were able to get the best of Richmond (8-5-2) in dramatic fashion, in a 2-1 victory at CHI Memorial Stadium back in early September in the sides sole matchup of the year. The league’s top goalscorer, Emiliano Terzaghi of Richmond, was able to open the scoring against the Red Wolves in the September matchup. He was dangerous the entire game, and was able to redirect the ball past Alex Mangels, capitalizing on the Kickers’ first opportunity and giving them the early 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. The Kickers carried their 1-0 lead into the halftime break, but the game changed when Chattanooga subbed on Marky Hernandez in his return from injury early in the second half. He entered the game in the 53rd minute, and by the 54th minute, the score was 1-1. Hernandez immediately collected the ball and sliced his way down the sideline before picking up an assist with his first touches of the game. Tanner Dieterich was on the receiving end of the ball, and tucked it away past the keeper. The score remained even until the final minute of stoppage time, when Marky again collected the ball and assisted Steven Beattie for the game-winning goal in stoppage time.
Greg Hurst currently sits three goals behind Terzaghi and will be making his push for the Golden Boot in this match. The Kickers’ keeper Fitzgerald is tied in 3rd place for having the most saves but the team sits in 4th in the league for most goals allowed. It will not be easy, but this is an additional storyline that will likely keep fans on the edge of their seat.
The Chattanooga Red Wolves will not let up, and will do their best to end the season on a high note and ruin the day for Richmond. With a loss, Richmond will likely lose their second-place spot, as North Texas and Omaha are hoping they slip up in order to steal the last spot in the last game of the season. The pressure is on for Richmond, and there is no room for mistakes today, especially when facing the Chattanooga Red Wolves.
As the 2020 regular season comes to a close after being anything but a “regular” season, the Chattanooga Red Wolves will be facing the Richmond Kickers on the road to play their second match against them this season. The match is anything but irrelevant and has a series of implications that could trigger various alternate realities for other teams in the league. Richmond, Omaha and North Texas are all in contention for the final spot, and depending on if the Red Wolves are able to win or not will be a huge factor in who advances into the final playoff slot. The Richmond Kickers and Union Omaha sit at 26 points for the season and is a must-win for both teams. Union Omaha will play Fort Lauderdale at home with the kick-off starting thirty minutes after the Chattanooga versus Richmond game. North Texas who sits behind both teams with 24 points will be playing Tormenta FC at 9:30 eastern time, and will need to secure three points to advance in addition to hoping for losses by both Omaha and Richmond. As the Red Wolves enter the weekend, they will be focused on only one thing and that is winning. All of the extraneous plot thickeners provide an additional degree of entertainment, but the boys will use this as an opportunity to grow as players and as teammates. In order to sour the Kickers’ weekend, these are the three points CRW will need to win.
Make the most of every opportunity. The team has done a great job at advancing the ball into the final third whether it be through a fast break or through tactical possession, but once in front of goal, they will need to put them away. The Kickers’ keeper Fitzgerald is tied in 3rd place for having the most saves but the team sits in 4th in the league for most goals allowed. In our last matchup, Steven Beattie came on in the 83rd minute and scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time to make the final box score read 2-1 at the final whistle. CRW will most likely need to score two or three goals to ensure victory this weekend. An additional narrative that will be happening during the game is the race for the Golden Boot. Terzaghi of Richmond sits at the top with 10 goals for the season. Greg Hurst currently has 7 goals despite being two games behind. Wolf Pack, don’t be surprised when Hurst dominates the stat sheet and is the one to score the necessary goals mentioned above. With a front three consisting of Hurst, Marky, and Ronaldo Pineda there are bound to be several goals.
The second point is to play well through the middle. At the beginning of the season, the tactical strategy was primarily built around playing through either Ami Pineda or Ualefi, and while both are out with injuries the team will need to play through Conor Doyle, Josue Soto, and Tanner Dieterich. All three players possess MLS experience and will run the game well, but the game could swing based off of their percentages in areas like turnovers, passing accuracy, and duels won.
The last point is to minimize goals and to aim for a clean sheet. The injury bug has been prevalent in the Red Wolves squad, but luckily the backline appears to be set for this last match with, going left to right, Ruiz, Folla, Ramos, and Ricketts all expected to make their final appearance of 2020. Alex Mangels has had a great season and has only allowed three other teams to concede fewer goals. The record for the season doesn’t lend itself to various aspects such as the strength of schedule or how close the games were, but Mangels has performed well and will close out the season on a high note. The Kickers will be coming down the field hot given the motivation they have to win, but Mangels will have the final say.
On Saturday, the Chattanooga Red Wolves played their last home match of the 2020 season at CHI Memorial Stadium in a hard fought 1-1 draw with Forward Madison FC. It was a beautiful day for soccer, and the environment in the stadium was incredible with over 800 fans turning out to support.
The Red Wolves opened the scoring first in the 6th minute, after Greg Hurst was able to get in position to draw a penalty kick. It was never in doubt, as Hurst hammered the ball past the outstretched Forward Madison keeper to give the Red Wolves the early lead. The Red Wolves were able to limit the chances of Forward Madison in the first half, with the exception of a very clear goal scoring opportunity in the 15th minute which was denied by keeper Alex Mangels. The Red Wolves were able to create many opportunities in the run of play, but came just short of converting them as they entered the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
The second half was a more intense battle, with both sides testing the keepers and creating dangerous scoring chances. The Red Wolves hammered the Forward Madison goal, but unfortunately could not find a way to break through and capitalize. In the 68th minute, Forward Madison drew the score even with an excellent team goal. The closing minutes of the game were very physical and frantic, with both sides desperate for a game winner, but to no avail. Big saves from both keepers in the dying moments held the game even until the final whistle blew, ending the contest 1-1.
It has been an exciting and successful first season in CHI Memorial Stadium, and Sean McDaniel, the President and General Manager of the Red Wolves, was very excited and optimistic about what’s in store for the organization in the future. Head Coach Jimmy Obleda shared this optimism, saying, “It is amazing to be a part of this organization and also to be able to see it from the beginning, building from the ground up. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it, and now we have to keep building a product on the field and raising the standards for the city and the club to the highest level.”
The Red Wolves have two more matches remaining in the 2020 season, with both being on the road. Chattanooga will travel to Orlando and Richmond to close out the season, as they currently sit in 5th place with 19 points. The Red Wolves will head to Richmond on October 24th, to take on the Richmond Kickers for the second time this season.
The Chattanooga Red Wolves will host Forward Madison FC on Saturday for their last match at CHI Memorial Stadium of the 2020 season. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 1:00 PM EST, and it will be the second meeting between the two sides of the season. The #6 Chattanooga Red Wolves currently have 18 points, while #8 Forward Madison FC have 17 points. Both teams have only 3 games remaining to be played, as the season winds to a close, and the race for 2nd place tightens. Neither team has been able to pick up a win in their last three matches, and both sides desperately need to change that if they want to stay in the race for the final. The Red Wolves trail the second place Richmond Kickers by just 5 points, and they will have the opportunity to play Richmond as one of their remaining matches, which offers them a chance to overtake them if they can take care of business this weekend.Gaining 3 points today will prove to be crucial and will narrow that gap to be within striking distance once CRW plays Richmond on the road. The Red Wolves will be hoping for Union Omaha and North Texas SC to drop their remaining games, in order to close the gap in the battle for 2nd place.
Forward Madison FC and the Chattanooga Red Wolves met three times in 2019, and every contest was tightly contested and evenly matched. The Red Wolves defeated Madison in their second ever game as an organization back in April, in a 1-0 win at David Stanton Field, the former temporary home of the Red Wolves. The next two matchups would both end in draws, with a 2-2 draw in Chattanooga, followed by a 1-1 draw on the road. Forward Madison ended the season in 4th place with 43 points, barely edging out the Red Wolves who finished 5th with 40 points.
The last home match of the year for the Red Wolves at CHI Memorial Stadium is set to kick off at 1:00 PM EST. Don’t miss out on your last chance of the 2020 season to see your Red Wolves in action in person, and pick up your tickets. If you can’t make it out, make sure to tune in to ESPN+ to watch the game, or keep up with live updates on twitter @chattredwolves.
The #6 Chattanooga Red Wolves will kickoff against #8 Forward Madison FC in a high stakes late season battle on Saturday. The race for second place is coming down to the wire, and both teams desperately need a win if they want any chance of competing for the league championship. Neither side has picked up a win in their last three games, and they each need to piece together a win streak to close out the season for any hopes of securing the second place spot. With three games remaining, the Red Wolves trail the second place Richmond Kickers by just 5 points. The Red Wolves will have the opportunity to play Richmond as one of their remaining matches, which offers them a good chance to overtake them if they can take care of business this weekend. Forward Madison on the other hand, are the only team that still have four matches remaining, meaning they have the most possible points to gain. Both teams have much to play for, as they each are fighting to keep postseason hopes alive with a win on saturday. Here are this weekend’s 3 points to picking up a win in CHI Memorial Stadium.
The first point for the Red Wolves Saturday is reestablishing consistency. The Red Wolves have proven that they have what it takes to piece together win streaks, and they have the talent to get the job done. However, after going on a 5 game unbeaten streak, the Red Wolves have not been their best, losing their last three matches. An important key to Saturday’s match will be to get back to playing Red Wolves style, attacking soccer. Injury bas been a factor in the Red Wolves squad this season, but on Saturday the team will be focused and well rested, ready to put on a show and fight for the #2 spot.
Secondly, Chattanooga has to get back to its old ways offensively and take advantage of their chances. In the past three matchups, the Red Wolves have been outscored 5-1, with their only goal coming off of a Greg Hurst penalty kick. Chattanooga has not scored in the run of play since September 15th, and they will need to turn that around this weekend. With a few key offensive pieces missing due to injury, the Red Wolves will have players ready to step up to the challenge and tuck away opportunities.
Lastly, defend the den. The Red Wolves currently have a home record of 4-3-0 going into the weekend, and Saturday’s match will be the last home game of the 2020 season. With a loss, the Red Wolves would end the 2020 season .500 at home, and the Red Wolves will want to close out their first season in the CHI Memorial Stadium era with a win. In order to secure a winning record at home, Chattanooga will need to put on a solid performance against a solid Forward Madison side, who defeated the Red Wolves 1-0 in their last matchup. The Red Wolves have struggled in the past picking up wins when they go down early in a game. Multiple times this season they have been able to pull out a draw after conceding first, but a draw is no longer enough to keep championship hopes alive. The Red Wolves will need to battle to keep a clean sheet, and if they do happen to concede first, they will need to fight to overcome the deficit and find a way to walk away with a win.
The Red Wolves will conclude their home matches at 1:00 PM EST on Saturday at CHI Memorial Stadium against Forward Madison FC. Dont miss out on the action and tune in to ESPN+ or follow along on twitter @chattredwolves for live updates.

Earlier today, the NCAA announced Chattanooga as the host city for six national championships, naming CHI Memorial Stadium, home of the Chattanooga Red Wolves professional soccer team, as the host venue for the 2023 and 2024 Men’s and Women’s DII Soccer National Championships.
“This is only the beginning of what we see as a long standing partnership between CHI Memorial Stadium, Chattanooga Sports Commission and the Cities of East Ridge and Chattanooga. Professional sports brings communities together and creates city and state pride. Our organization will continue to work in this direction and increase professional sports in Chattanooga,” says owner Bob Martino. “Our recognition in the national spotlight is a result of true teamwork and shows that communities, cities, area professionals and a development organization like ours can create amazing results. Congratulations to those that put in all the hard work to showcase this facility and this great city on a national stage.”
CHI Memorial Stadium broke ground just over a year ago and hosted the first live professional sports in the city in 2020 with the Chattanooga Red Wolves home opener on August 1st. After completion of the Red Wolves home season in October, CHI Memorial Stadium and the surrounding area will move into its next phase of construction including a roughly 2000 sq. ft Video scoreboard, Digital Field Runner Boards, lights, and completion of the Sky Suites and Executive Club. The $150+ million mixed use community surrounding Tennessee’s first professional soccer stadium has recently begun construction on one of the residential elements. There will be many exciting new components introduced and it will continue to grow and develop between now and the 2023 national championships.
“CHI Memorial Stadium is a place where our community can enjoy all levels of soccer, and hosting a NCAA championship is a great opportunity for our region,” said Sean McDaniel, general manager of Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. “Showcasing our city on a national stage in such a wonderful venue is something we can all be proud of.”
While Chattanooga has hosted various NCAA championships in the past, this will be the city’s first ever DII soccer championships.
“Today’s announcement is a big win for our community, our sports scene and our region’s economy,” said Tim Morgan, chief sports officer of Chattanooga Sports, a division of the Chattanooga Tourism Co.
