Kentwood, Michigan — Detroit City FC heads to the west side of Michigan for their penultimate USL W League regular season match of 2024, taking on Midwest United. Any result for Le Rouge would see them secure their first-ever spot in the playoffs since forming a women’s squad in 2020.
Le Rouge is coming into this match off of a 2-0 win over Kalamazoo FC in their final home match of the 2024 regular season. Goals from Kayla Addison and Tatiana Mason separated the squads on a hot summer day at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday. With this win, Detroit City FC finished their home slate of matches with a perfect 6-0-0 record.
Midwest United comes into Thursday’s match in a fine run of form themselves, most recently besting Flint City AFC on Sunday on the road. Their last time dropping points was at Keyworth Stadium, losing 2-1 to Detroit City FC.
If Detroit City FC can win or draw this evening, their ticket will be punched for their first-ever playoff berth since the start of the women’s first team in 2020. Midwest United needs to win to stay in the playoff picture. If Le Rouge loses, they can clinch their spot with a win on Sunday on the road to Ann Arbor.
