Forward Jeciel Cedeño is preparing for his first full season with Detroit City. Cedeño joined Le Rouge back in July 2024 from Oakland Roots. In his introductory year with the club, the forward appeared in 12 matches for Le Rouge, starting in four.
Cedeño spent two split seasons with Oakland Roots before joining DCFC in mid-2024. The first half of the 2024 season saw Cedeño appear in 21 matches, starting in 16. In those matches, the forward would score three goals, including Oakland’s opening goal of the 2024 season. Cedeño joined Oakland Roots midway through the 2023 campaign. In his 22 appearances with the club, he started in 17 matches, scored one goal, and added three assists.
The Ecuadorian began the 2023 campaign with Hartford Athletic before being traded to Oakland Roots. In 2023, Cedeño appeared in 12 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and assisting on two others. In 2022, Cedeño appeared in 10 games for the Eastern Conference Club, and in his debut season with Hartford, he appeared in 16 matches.
Cedeño moved to New Jersey when he was 12 but returned to Ecuador at 16 to try out for the Barcelona de Guayaquil academy, where he played for three seasons. After three seasons in his home country, Cedeño returned to New Jersey to join the New York Red Bulls Academy. Cedeño made his first professional start for New York Red Bulls II against Atlanta United II in June of 2019, in which he also gained his first professional assist.
