Midfielder Michael Bryant returns to Detroit City FC for his fourth season with the club. Throughout his DCFC tenure, Bryant has scored seven goals, registered over 150 interceptions, and played in 107 matches for Le Rouge.
Bryant extended his contract with Le Rouge this past offseason, securing his stay in Detroit through the 2026 season. Throughout the 2024 season, Bryant played in 34 matches, starting in 26. His only goal of the season came during the 4-0 road victory against The Miami FC. He recorded 36 interceptions on the back line. Bryant joined an illustrious list of club legends late in the 2024 season by becoming the fifth club centurion.
In 2023, Bryant started in 32 of the 34 matches played, achieving a career-high 63 interceptions throughout the season. In 2022, he recorded similar statistics in his first season with Le Rouge, starting in 24 of the 30 matches. He scored his first goal while wearing a Detroit shirt just three matches into his tenure, coming on as a second-half substitute and netting the final goal in a 4-0 victory over Atlanta United 2. Bryant added three more goals throughout the season, but his 47 interceptions significantly contributed to DCFC’s first USL Championship playoff appearance.
The Portola Hills, California native joined DCFC in February 2022, prior to Detroit City’s entrance into the USL Championship. Before joining, Bryant spent three seasons with the Cal United Strikers, starting in 36 of the 39 matches in which he appeared. Bryant was the NPSL’s Orange County FC captain from 2017 to 2019. He played a key role in the club’s historic run through the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2019, knocking out USL Championship teams Orange County SC and Las Vegas Lights FC before falling in the fourth round to LA Galaxy. Bryant played collegiately at Elmira, scoring 31 goals in 49 appearances before transferring to Northwest Nazarene in Idaho, where he earned All-Conference honors.
