On Friday, FC Tulsa owners J.W., Ryan and Kyle Craft sent an email update to FC Tulsa fans on the state of the club including the current status on Season Tickets, Merchandise, Corporate Partnerships and the club's efforts in the community. Below is the full email sent to FC Tulsa fans.
Wow! What a start to the season for FC Tulsa.
We are so proud of Head Coach Michael Nsien and our team as FC Tulsa sits at the top of the USL Championship standings with a perfect 3-0-0 record. In the season’s first three weeks, we have scored seven goals while allowing just one, had four players selected to Team of the Week and seen one of our offseason acquisitions, Joaquín Rivas, win a Player of the Week award while leading the Golden Boot race.
Needless to say, this has been the best start to a season in our club’s seven-year history in the USL Championship.
When we purchased FC Tulsa at the end of the 2019 season, it was our goal to put together a team that could not only entertain our fans and get them excited for pro soccer again, but one that would compete year in and year out for championships. It’s still early, but it definitely looks like we will be right in the thick of a championship race throughout this season.
As our team and front office work hard preparing for 29 more matches this season, including 15 under the lights at ONEOK Field, we wanted to update you on how FC Tulsa is growing in all areas of our business.
FC Tulsa Season Ticket Memberships are booming. Over the last two years, we have increased our total season tickets sold by 595%, with all of that growth in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, over these last two years, no one in the USL Championship has sold more season tickets than FC Tulsa. As it stands currently, we are in the top half of all independent teams in season ticket sales, and we expect that number to keep climbing.
On May 1 for our home opener, we had the pleasure of increasing capacity for the first time during the pandemic, and Tulsa responded. More 4,200 fans saw our 2-0 victory in our home opener, which was the largest crowd for a Tulsa pro soccer match in over three years. We thank everyone who came out and hope to continue hearing your support of our club in 2021.
Recently, we opened an in-person FC Tulsa Team Shop at our HQ in downtown Tulsa. If you have stopped by to visit our Team Shop, you know we have new merch releasing weekly featuring what we believe is one of the most beautiful brands in professional soccer. People around the world are taking notice, and we now currently rank in the top 10 in global merchandise sales for all USL Championship clubs.
If you haven’t yet browsed our Team Shop at 1155 S. Elgin Ave., we’d love to see you. While you are there, make sure to pop into our front office and say hello!
With increased success and visibility on and off the pitch comes the support of corporate partnerships throughout Tulsa. We are thrilled to have a growing base of local companies willing to support professional soccer in our city. Organizations like Williams, Bank of Oklahoma, Tulsa Remote and many, many more have thrown their hat into our ring as they share our vision of a successful pro sports team that Tulsa can get behind. Since 2019, our corporate partner revenue has increased 141%, the most in the league over that time span, and that number grows weekly. We have some exciting announcements upcoming on this front that we can’t wait to make public.
While it’s great to win on the field and in our front office, we strongly believe it’s equally important to win off the field in our community. The fundamental reason we invested in the team was to make Tulsa a better place to live, work, and play, and that effort can't be limited to 17 home matches a year.
Whether it’s the Tulsa Dream League, the free to play elementary soccer league we helped to fund and launch in North Tulsa or our Greenwood Ave. patch initiative on our 2021 jerseys that donates proceeds to the Black Wall Street Memorial, FC Tulsa is always looking for ways to contribute to and amplify the incredible work being done across our community. Take a look at our dedicated community-focused webpage on our site that details all our community initiatives and our community schedule. We’d love to get you involved with us in helping our community.
Let us be very clear, this is only the beginning. We've made great progress, but we still have work to do to reach our goals of being in the Top 5 in the league in all aspects of our business. We strive to match and exceed other high performing teams in our league like Louisville City FC, Sacramento Republic FC, Phoenix Rising FC, and Tampa Bay Rowdies.
To accomplish that goal, we need your help to spread the word about FC Tulsa so we can fill every seat in the house at ONEOK Field and take our atmosphere and energy to even higher levels.
We believe this club can be a rallying point for our entire city and the people in it. If you live in Tulsa, or if Tulsa has a special place in your heart, regardless of your walk of life, FC Tulsa is a club for you. Our mission is to continue building this club with you right alongside us every step of the way.
As always, we love hearing your feedback – good or bad. FC Tulsa is nothing without its fans, and we pledge to always listen to you first. Shoot us an email to info@https://sportsengine-staging.go-vip.net/fctulsa with any thoughts you have on the current state of FC Tulsa, our matchday experience or how we can be involved with continuing to give back to our wonderful city.
We can’t wait to see you at ONEOK Field on June 16 and 19 for our next two home matches.
Go FC Tulsa!
