The Tulsa Roughnecks FC announced a challenging slate of preseason matches today ahead of the team’s fourth season of play in the United Soccer League.
The Roughnecks, under Head Coach David Vaudreuil, will play a total of six preseason games against college and professional competition. The slate of games will begin with a local matchup at the University of Tulsa on Sunday, February 11. The battle of the two Tulsa clubs will take place at the University of Tulsa’s Hurricane Track and Field Stadium.
The next weekend TRFC will head to Kansas City to face the Swope Park Rangers on Saturday, February 17. Fans looking to catch a preview of a Western Conference rival will have the opportunity to make the quick drive north to support the club on the road. This match will kickoff at 2:00 p.m.
The Roughnecks will then head back to Oklahoma and face a pair of local universities within a few days of each other. TRFC will make a quick drive to Bartlesville to face Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday, February 24, and Oral Roberts University will host the squad on Tuesday, February 27. These two matches will be the Roughnecks last action in the Tulsa area until the home season opener on March 24.
Two days later, on Saturday, March 3, the Roughnecks will travel to Illinois to face their Major League Soccer affiliate, the Chicago Fire. The match will be played at the Fire’s home stadium, Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. The contest will begin at 12:00 p.m. and will be open to the public with all proceeds supporting the Chicago Fire Foundation. Last year, the Roughnecks defeated a squad of Fire players 2-1 in a preseason matchup.
The sixth and final outing will be held at San Antonio FC’s Toyota Stadium on Saturday, March 10. The match against the Western Conference foe will start at 1:00 p.m. and will be the Roughneck’s final tune-up before the 2018 regular season gets underway.
The Roughnecks open the 2018 season at Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 17, with the home opener on March 24 at ONEOK Field against Real Monarchs SLC.
