As we prepare to kick off the 2020 season, Forward Madison remains committed to hosting events that are responsible and taking the utmost precautions to keep its fans, players and staff safe. In accordance with that principle, we have put together a COVID-19 Readiness Plan to make sure games are as safe as possible for fans, players, and staff. In accordance with the Governor’s plan to re-open small business, we will have limited store hours at our team shop, Flamboyance, located at Breese Stevens Field. Our fans and staff safety is of utmost importance, our staff has spent this week cleaning and sanitizing the store. Additionally, only five customers will be allowed inside at a time, and customers waiting outside will be expected to wait at clear markers to maintain social distancing. We strongly encourage customers to wear masks who have them. Fans will be able to enter via Gate 1 (corner of East Washington St. and Paterson St.). 

Fans who prefer shopping from the comfort of their own homes are still able to purchase items via our online portal. For any other special circumstances, please feel free to contact us at: store@https://sportsengine-staging.go-vip.net/forwardmadisonfc

Forward Madison FC is celebrating Pride Month with the launch of its Pride Fan Kit, created in collaboration with the team’s independent supporters’ group, The Flock. The Flamingos will donate 25 percent of proceeds from the new jersey to the Flock Telethon, which will take place June 27 and benefit LGBTQ+ charities.

The Flamingos will donate 25 percent of proceeds from the new jersey to the Flock Telethon, which will take place June 27 and benefit LGBTQ+ charities.

According to Andrew Schmidt, president of The Flock, the Pride Fan Kit combines two of the best parts of Madison.

"The Flock is proud to partner with the club we love to help support Madison's LGBTQ+ community,” Schmidt said. “The importance of championing causes that promote love and togetherness is something we don't take lightly, and we acknowledge we still have a lot of work to do as a society to ensure equality for everyone."

The kit itself plays off Forward Madison’s home jersey, with a rainbow sash crossing through the middle and rainbow scallops dancing off the shoulders.

Forward Madison also celebrated Pride Month in its inaugural season, with captain Connor Tobin donning a rainbow armband for every game in June. Although the Pride Fan Kit will not be worn by the team this year, it represents the Flamingos’ commitment to creating an inclusive atmosphere for all of its fans.

Breese Stevens Field is excited to announce the Dinner at Breese restaurant series, which will launch this Friday, June 19. Dinner at Breese will feature a different local Madison restaurant approximately two times per week offering a picnic-style food service in what will become the largest socially distanced outdoor restaurant space in Madison. 

This Friday, to kick off the series, Ribmasters WI and their owner Atonye Marsh will be serving food from 5-9 p.m. Opening night of the series coincides with the Juneteenth celebrations which commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. Breese Stevens Field is proud to launch the series with a Black-owned restaurant. Beer, wine, water and soda will also be available for purchase. There will be no admission fee to get into the limited-capacity evening series at Breese.

Upcoming restaurants will include Fairchild, Salvatore’s Tomato Pies, and Heritage Tavern.

Ribmasters will be serving a wide variety of food, including:

-Pulled pork sandwiches
-Loaded pulled pork nachos

While it is still unclear exactly when we will be able to return to Breese Stevens Field, as soon as we have clearance from Dane County and City of Madison Public Health, these guidelines will be put in place ahead of any events.

EMPLOYEE GUIDELINES:
– All employees will complete a health screening prior to each home game including a temperature check. If any employee is feeling unwell, they will not be allowed to report to the facility.
– All stadium staff will wear masks at all times.
– Sanitizing stands will be placed throughout the facility for staff to use regularly.
– All concession staff will wear gloves.
– Food and beverage staff will be required to wash their hands every 20 minutes.

FAN GUIDELINES:
– Fans are strongly encouraged to wear a mask while attending a Forward Madison FC game.
– In-stadium traffic will be directed by ushers to avoid fan congregation and help with physical distancing.
– A physically distanced seat map will be created to ensure there is a six foot radius around each fan or group of fans seated together.
– Concession stands will be cashless and payment at team store and concession stands will be card or Apple pay ONLY.

FACILITY GUIDELINES:
– Breese Stevens Field will undergo a thorough cleaning and sanitization process by a commercial cleaner prior to, and immediately following every FMFC home game and Breese Stevens Field event.
– Bathrooms and common areas will be cleaned by a commercial cleaning service every 30 minutes throughout the entirety of an event.
– Bathroom and team store doors will be propped open to avoid touching by fans and staff.
– Fans will be asked to enter and exit through specific gates ahead of the match.
– Markers will be placed in concession lines and in the team store to promote physically distancing while fans wait to be checked out.

The club was able to raise over $11,000 for local restaurants to feed healthcare workers via the Match for Madison, and this additional donation from Just Coffee Coop is a great extra gesture for healthcare workers around Madison.

Forward Madison FC will return to practice for the first time in over two months Wednesday, kicking off small-group training sessions at Breese Stevens Field. The Flamingos’ resumption of soccer activities comes as Dane County moves into phase one of its reopening plan.

According to Head Coach & Technical Director Daryl Shore, the team will retain strict sanitation and social distancing measures throughout its return.

“While the guys are all looking forward to playing again, we understand that we’re not out of the woods yet,” Shore said. “We’re taking all the proper precautions that the health department in Dane County is recommending and we’re going above and beyond to retain social safety measures.”

Forward Madison’s health and safety precautions will include: limiting sessions to small groups at a time; taking players’ temperatures before they leave home and when they arrive at the stadium; setting up mandatory handwashing stations; changing at home instead of in the locker room; and wearing a mask upon arrival at the stadium.

Breese Stevens Field will be closed to the general public during all small-group sessions.

Forward Madison FC made a splash in the soccer world Saturday, revealing its long-anticipated 2020 alternate jersey. The kit, bathed by fluorescent blues and pinks, was created on canvas as an artwork before being digitally transferred to the jersey.

The Flamingos’ 2020 alternate kit follows a high standard, succeeding 2019’s pink-patterned jersey that SiriusXM FC listeners dubbed the best in the world. According to FMFC designer Cassidy Sepnieski, though, this season’s effort might just top it.

“We wanted something that people can wear in their everyday lives that’s cooler, more street-culture that what we’ve done in the past,” Sepnieski said. “It wears so well on people. It’s something that makes you stop and look.”

The jersey itself bubbles blue at its base, with light, frothy patches seeping out onto the foreground. The kit’s defining feature may be its splashes of pink and navy, which ripple across the shirt, synchronised but defying pattern.

Sepnieski created the kit’s design using a technique called hydro dipping, which involves mixing paint into water and applying it to canvas. 

“I went through probably eight or nine canvasses of attempting that street art style,” she said. “I took a couple art classes in college, so I have some painting under my belt, but nothing like this. It was just inspired by the colors and the textures in the water.”

According to Sepnieski, the jersey is a tribute to the culture of Forward Madison.

“From the front office to the players to The Flock to the general fans, we’re a vibrant bunch of people and it’s exciting to get to work in an environment like that,” Sepnieski said. “That’s where real creativity happens. Without the room and the expectations – that standard of Loud, Vibrant, Unwavering – these kits would not be possible.”
