COACHING COURSES
COACH FOR COMMUNIty
us soccer learning center

The Florida Youth Soccer Association has more than 200+ affiliate clubs & leagues throughout the state. Use our Club Finder page for an interactive map with a complete list of all clubs. Once you have located a few that are in your area, contact them directly to see if they are in need of coaches for the upcoming soccer season. Tryouts typically occur after the Challenge Round of State Cup (beginning/middle of May). Contacting a club prior to this time period will allow you to find open positions for competitive or recreational teams.

All coaches are encouraged to acquire the appropriate license to coach a youth team in Florida.

The national-level courses are designed and distributed by U.S. Soccer, which is the governing body for soccer in the USA. These national-level courses include the Grassroots courses, the National D license course, the National C License course, the National B License course, the National A (Youth or Senior) License courses and the Pro Course as well as the Club Technical Leadership Courses. These national courses are administered via the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. The Grassroots and the National D License courses are hosted at various dates and locations across the state of Florida. For more information on all of these courses and how to register for one, please click here.

Coaches who wish to take the U.S. Soccer national courses must go to the Learning Center, create a coaches account, take the free 30 minute online introduction to coaching course and then register for the Grassroots courses.

Once you are assigned a team to coach, you can sign up for the appropriate course to obtain the minimum license required. Please note that some courses have a prerequisite. If you want to take a before you are assigned to a team, you can start with the the U.S. Soccer Grassroots courses. The complete schedule of courses is updated periodically throughout the year and communicated to membership.

For more information on our coaching education program, please get in touch with Mark Godwin, FYSA Technical Director, at MGodwin@fysa.com or (863) 268-8220 Ext: 307.
