Julio C. asks, "Are you planning to have tryouts for college students to show their talents?"

We are! We had Open Tryouts back in January before our season began and will have Open Tryouts again after the season ends. These tryouts aren't just for college students, anyone age 16 and up can attend. Last year, 5 players advanced from Open Tryouts to a trial period with the first team. You can read more about last year's tryouts.

@neilmontovani asks, "Any sneak peak at the food and drink offering at Dillon?"

We're still finalizing some things but we'll have a rotating series of Food Trucks inside the stadium. There will also be local craft brewery options and a beer garden for fans to enjoy. 

@CTSoccerMike asks, "How many fingers am I holding up?"

I assume nine, because you're counting down the days to our next home match?

Brandon P. asks, "Listen, I have no real experience at all, but I'm a passionate fan who plays a lot of FIFA career mode. Ever consider a 4-4-2 diamondwide?"

Coach Nielsen: We base our formation on our personnel for each match. Our players have different skill sets that we adapt to based on what each player is good at. We have played some 4-4-2 this season and will do so again should the situation call for it.

@theSMgeek asks, 'Why no daytime games? I can't bring my kids to a 7 PM match."

HARTFORD, Conn. (May 15, 2019) — Hartford Athletic announced today that the Club is offering a complimentary ticket to all military and first responders for its Memorial Day Weekend match on Saturday, May 25th at 7 PM at Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. 

Military and First Responders can claim their free ticket here.

“The Club’s purpose is to build community through the world’s game,” said COO Donovan Powell, who served in the United States Marines on active duty from 2002-2006. “It is important to show our appreciation for all those that serve and protect.”

Hartford Athletic got the first win in Club history with a 2-1 victory over New York Cosmos B on Tuesday night at Al-Marzook Stadium on the campus of the University of Hartford.

Hartford Athletic played their best offensive half of the season in the first 45 minutes. Harry Swartz netted the opener with a great touch and turn off a low cross from Giuseppe Gentile. Swartz went near post past an outstretched Santiago Castano for the first goal of the night.

Just 9 minutes later, Mads Jørgensen scored on a free kick from just outside the top of the box. Some beautiful spin and a helpful bounce helped Mads find the back of the net and Hartford took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Cosmos controlled the run of play in the second half, capitalizing on an deep strike from last week's hero, Bljedi Bardic, to bring the Cosmos within 1. The Cosmos rattled off 12 shots in the second half, only 3 of which were on target, but Lissek and the Athletic defense did just enough to keep Cosmos off the board a second time.

Hartford Athletic now advances to the third round of the U.S. Open Cup where they will take on the winner of Memphis 901 FC and New York Red Bulls U-23.

Hartford Athletic returns to USL Championship action on Sunday afternoon when they head to our nation's capital to take on Loudoun United FC at Audi Field at 2 PM.

Hartford Athletic fell to Memphis 901 FC after a tough battle ending in a 2-1 loss on Friday night. Memphis 901 FC started off the scoring in the 24th minute with a goal from Duane Muckette. Muckette came through the center of the box for a quick pass from Abdi Mohamed to tap it in for the goal.

Hartford was quick to answer in the 31st minute with a textbook give and go. Raymond Lee fed Alex Dixon only to get it right back and drill one into the back of the net to bring it all level.

The score would remain tied heading into the half. In the 70th minute Memphis’ Elliot Collier attempted a header on a cross that was saved by Lissek but with the goalkeeper on the ground, Collier tapped it in on the rebound. The 2-1 score would hold out through the end of the match despite a late flurry of chances for the Athletic.

LAST TIME OUT:

Hartford Athletic earned the first points of the season with a 1-1 draw against Charlotte Independence. in the inaugural home match on Saturday night. 

The scoring started early. In the 3rd minute, Dominic Oduro got past the Hartford back line and dropped a ball off for a trailing Abdoulie Mansally who fired it past Jacob Lissek for an early 1-0 lead for the visitors. But Hartford answered quickly. Raymond Lee played a beautiful ball down into the box and Mac Steeves chipped the ball over an on-rushing keeper for the first ever home goal in Hartford Athletic history.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Hartford Athletic – Mac Steeves, F

Steeves has played two brilliant matches in a row for Hartford Athletic as the offense starts to find its footing. Two weeks ago at North Carolina FC, Steeves played a beautiful ball off his chest right to Alex Dixon who scored the first goal for Hartford. Mac also recorded the first home goal in Hartford Athletic history last weekend. The offense has gone as Mac has gone the past two weeks. We'll see if that continues Friday night.

Memphis 901 FC – Rashawn Dally, F

It's a homecoming of sorts for Dally who hails from Bloomfield, CT and played collegiately at Quinnipiac. Dally has been one of the more consistent offensive players for Memphis, leading the team with 8 SOG, scoring once. He's appeared in every match for Memphis this season and you can bet he'll be excited to play in his home state.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT:

Memphis 901 FC comes to Hartford in 15th place in the USL Championship, coming off a 2-2 tie with Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday. Marc Burch leads the scoring for Memphis with 2 goals on the season. Memphis has two UConn graduates on the roster in Goalkeeper Scott Levene and Defender Jacob Hauser-Ramsey. Hauser-Ramsey has made 4 appearances this season, starting 3 of those matches.

Hartford Athletic earned the first points of the season with a 1-1 draw against Charlotte Independence. in the inaugural home match on Saturday night. 

The scoring started early. In the 3rd minute, Dominic Oduro got past the Hartford back line and dropped a ball off for a trailing Abdoulie Mansally who fired it past Jacob Lissek for an early 1-0 lead for the visitors. But Hartford answered quickly. Raymond Lee played a beautiful ball down into the box and Mac Steeves chipped the ball over an on-rushing keeper for the first ever home goal in Hartford Athletic history.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Hartford Athletic – Mac Steeves, F

Steeves has played two brilliant matches in a row for Hartford Athletic as the offense starts to find its footing. Two weeks ago at North Carolina FC, Steeves played a beautiful ball off his chest right to Alex Dixon who scored the first goal for Hartford. Mac also recorded the first home goal in Hartford Athletic history last weekend. The offense has gone as Mac has gone the past two weeks. We’ll see if that continues Friday night.

Memphis 901 FC – Rashawn Dally, F

It’s a homecoming of sorts for Dally who hails from Bloomfield, CT and played collegiately at Quinnipiac. Dally has been one of the more consistent offensive players for Memphis, leading the team with 8 SOG, scoring once. He’s appeared in every match for Memphis this season and you can bet he’ll be excited to play in his home state.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT:

Memphis 901 FC comes to Hartford in 15th place in the USL Championship, coming off a 2-2 tie with Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday. Marc Burch leads the scoring for Memphis with 2 goals on the season. Memphis has two UConn graduates on the roster in Goalkeeper Scott Levene and Defender Jacob Hauser-Ramsey. Hauser-Ramsey has made 4 appearances this season, starting 3 of those matches.

Hartford Athletic will play New York Cosmos on Tuesday, May 14th at 7:30pm at Al Marzook Field at University of Hartford. New York Cosmos beat Black Rock FC in the opening round at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium on Wednesday night.
