Hafferty departs for club-record transfer fee after making 30 appearances across all competitions in 2024

Las Vegas Lights FC today announced the club has transferred defender Joe Hafferty to Lexington Sporting Club in a club-record deal.
Hafferty made 30 appearances across all competitions in 2024 for the Lights, including starts in all three playoff matches.
“I’d like to thank Joe for his contributions to the team in 2024. His positional flexibility and consistency were key to our success defensively,” said Sporting Director Gianleonardo Neglia. “Ultimately, building a successful professional club involves being active in both buying and selling players, so we’re very happy to seal a club-record transfer during this window.”
Hafferty arrived in Las Vegas ahead of the 2024 season after a successful year with Austin FC II in MLS NEXT Pro. He made 31 appearances while captaining the team to an MLS NEXT Pro title.
The American was previously with Tacoma Defiance, making 8 appearances in the USL Championship in 2020/21 and then 22 appearances in 2021/22 when the team transitioned into MLS NEXT Pro.
Las Vegas will open the season at home at Cashman Field on March 8 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. For more information, including the full 2025 schedule, please click here.
