Tickets for the first annual Thunder Cup match between the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky went on sale Monday at 10 a.m.
The April 18, 2020 match will pit Louisville vs. Kentucky in a men’s soccer Spring exhibition match at Lynn Family Stadium. The Thunder Cup, which will begin at Noon that day, will kick off a day of fun and excitement for fans who choose to make Lynn Family Stadium their home base for Thunder.
“We are excited to bring together the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky for a fun event for local soccer fans,” Louisville City FC President Brad Estes said. “One of our goals as an organization is to grow the game of soccer in our community, and this is a great chance for us to welcome fans of these two great programs into our new stadium.”
Tickets for the new event will start at just $10 and went on sale Monday, March 2 at 10 a.m. Tickets are available on www.loucity.com or by calling 502-LOU-CITY. Parking will also be available for purchase.
Each ticket-holder will be given a wristband so they can enjoy the events on the Waterfront and return to Lynn Family Stadium throughout the day.
Shortly after the match, the Thunder Air Show will begin in downtown Louisville with a return to the larger Category 1 air box for this year’s show, the first time it has been the largest category of air box since 2015 when the downtown bridge construction began.
The 2020 Thunder Air Show will include performances by the U.S. Navy F-35 Demo, U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demo, U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Demo and the return of the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team, as well as a first time Thunder appearance by the Wild Blue RV8 night time tribute show to recognize First Responders.
As the sun goes down on April 18, ticket holders can settle in at Lynn Family Stadium to watch the fireworks in the sky and on the video board with convenient access to clean bathrooms and dozens of food options.
