THURSDAY, FEB. 20, 2020 – Louisville City Football Club is pleased to announce a renewed partnership with WDRB Media as its local TV partner for the 2020 USL Championship season. Every Louisville City FC game will be televised with the vast majority of games on WBKI for the 2020 season.
“We are excited our fans will be able to follow our games on the road and at home on WDRB stations,” Louisville City FC President Brad Estes said. “We feel an incredible amount of excitement around the city as we prepare to open our new stadium and having a broadcast partner who can provide access to our growing fan base was crucial.”
The vast majority of LouCity matches – 28 of 34 – will be broadcast on WBKI starting with the first four matches of the season, March 7 at North Carolina, March 15 at Atlanta United 2, March 21 at Pittsburgh and April 4 at Indy Eleven. Louisville City FC will host a pair of nationally televised matches on ESPN networks this season, April 11 vs. Birmingham Legion and July 1 vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Of the remaining 32 matches, four will be shown on MY58tv this season.
New for 2020, Louisville City FC and WDRB Media also teamed up to offer fans local streaming access through the free WDRB NOW Digital App.
“This is an exciting time for both Louisville City FC and WDRB Media,” says Dale R. Woods, WDRB President, and General Manager. “Expansion is the theme for 2020 with the new state-of-the-art stadium for fans to experience, as well as televised games and adding live streaming for all 32 games on the WDRB NOW Digital App. This gives our fans the flexibility to be able to watch each game this season live in-stadium, on the big screen or on the go by phone.”
“Giving our fans the ability to stream the matches through the app was crucial for us this season,” said Mitch Ried, Louisville City FC’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We want to continue to advocate for our fans to get more access to our club, whether that be through our web site, www.loucity.com, our social channels, or the ability to stream our matches locally.”
In addition to the local stream on the free WDRB NOW App, all LouCity games will be streamed nationally on ESPN+.
After five seasons of playing its home games at Louisville Slugger Field, Louisville City FC will open Lynn Family Stadium, the club’s new soccer-specific stadium, on April 11 vs. Birmingham Legion. The stadium has optimized sightlines for fans in the stadium as well as prime locations for cameras to make the broadcast as compelling as possible.
