Louisville City FC will lean on a steady hand in knockout games Wednesday when facing Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup’s Round of 32.
Danny Faundez, who featured during the club’s run to the 2022 USL Championship Final, will start in goal for a 10:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Starfire Sports Complex.
In front of Faundez will be most of the same lineup that has LouCity off to a 6-0-1 start in USL Championship play.
Kyle Adams, Wes Charpie and Sean Totsch are the back three of an expected 5-2-3 formation with Jake Morris and Aiden McFadden on the wings.
Then it’s Taylor Davila and Elijah Wynder in the midfield duo as Ray Serrano, Wilson Harris and Adrien Perez, from left to right, make up the front three.
This marks a homecoming for both Faundez and Serrano, Washington state natives who played in the Sounders organization earlier in their careers.
Wednesday night’s LouCity game is the club’s first since a dominant, 6-0 victory in league play April 27 over Hartford Athletic. Should the boys in purple advance, they’ll host the winner of Phoenix Rising FC at North Carolina FC in the Round of 16 played May 21-22.
