Zach Ryan has won Loudoun Unitedโs Player of the Month award, earning the accolade for the first time in his career.
Before the season opener, Zach Ryan was named co-captain alongside defender Cole Turner. Ryan continues to lead the team on and off the pitch and has led the team to a positive start in the new season.
Ryan claims the award after scoring three goals and providing one assist in two appearances. The captain recorded two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win against Memphis 901 FC in the season opener.
In the eighth minute of the season opener, Ryan played a deceptive backheeled pass into space to find Tommy Williamson who then claimed the first goal of the 2023 USL Championship season.
Just three minutes later, Ryan found a goal of his own from the top of the box in his Red-and-White debut.
With Memphis on the front-foot searching to tie the match, the captain secured the three points in the 94th minute, completing his brace for the night.
Following his performance on Matchweek 1, Ryan landed himself on the USL Championship Team of the Week.
In the second match of the season, the Stanford graduate led his side to a 1-1 draw to USL Championship defending champions, San Antonio FC.
Off the pitch, Zach Ryan was one of the five players that visited Providence Academy to help with carpool drop-off and escorting kids to their classes.
Loudoun Unitedโs Player of the Month is awarded to the player that proves to be exceptional on and off the pitch. From performing on the pitch to helping in the community, the award is voted by the playerโs peers and front office staff each month.
