Open Cup Match Preview
The time has finally come. Loudoun United FC kickoff their Open Cup campaign for the first time in club history. The Red-and-White face North Carolina FC at Segra Field on Wednesday, April 5. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET.

Loudoun United look to bounce back from back-to-back losses in the USL Championship. The Red-and-White were defeated at home by Western Conference foes, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
LUFC outshot the Switchbacks 14 to 11, recording 63.1% possession on a windy spring day. Wesley Leggett and Bryce Washington started their first match of the season. Kalil ElMedkhar led the team with five shots on the night, with three on target.
Captain Zach Ryan is available for selection after serving his one-match suspension. Ryan leads the team with three goals and one assist in two matches.

About North Carolina FC
USL League One-side North Carolina FC travel to Segra Field following their first win of the 2023 season. Lexington found an early advantage, going ahead 1-0 inside the 5th minute. NCFC found a quick equalizer, through an own goal from a freekick in the 14th minute. NCFC would eventually find the winning goal through Rafa Mentzingen.
In their 2023 USL League One opener, North Carolina FC fell to the reigning league champions, South Georgia Torment, 0-1 despite holding 63% of possession, 11-13 edge in shots and 6-2 advantage in corners.
Match Up History
Wednesday’s contest will be the third-ever meeting between Loudoun United FC and North Carolina FC. The series is tied 1-1-0 with both meetings coming in the 2019 USL Championship season. The Red-and-White last faced North Carolina at Segra Field on August 31, defeating the visitors 4-0.
