
Loudoun United are set to play against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC for their 12th match of the 2021 United Soccer League (USL) Championship regular season on Saturday, July 17 at 7 PM ET. Loudoun United will look to bounce back from two straight home losses and earn three points on the road against a tough Pittsburgh Riverhounds side on Saturday Night.
In their last match, Loudoun lost 4-1 to Miami FC. Loudoun United created better chances in the first half but were unable to convert. Miami scored in the 26thminute when Boulwatife Akinyode scored on a good opportunity from inside the box. Shortly after, Darluis Paz drew a foul, leading to a penalty kick for the Red-and-White. Paz stepped up to take the penalty, but his shot hit the crossbar and bounced out. Miami went into halftime leading 1-0.
Miami scored two quick goals after halftime to give them a 3-0 lead. In the 75thminute, Loudoun United scored their lone goal of the night when Owen Walz finished into the corner off a corner kick taken by Aboukoura. Miami scored one last goal in the final minutes and the match finished 4-1.
The match on Saturday night will be the third of four times that these two sides will face off during the 2021 USL Championship Regular Season. The Riverhounds won the first matchup 3-2 on June 2 and Loudoun United won the second meeting 2-1 at Segra Field on June 30. Loudoun will look to take a 2-1 series lead against Pittsburgh on Saturday.
