Miami, FL. (June 18th, 2023)
On Saturday, Miami FC took on Loudoun United FC in a match that resulted in a disappointing loss for the home team. Miami played the Virginia team after returning from a couple of tough games on the road.
The first half finished in favor of Loudoun after their successful game play. They were issued a penalty in the 35th minute, which was taken and scored by forward, Zach Ryan. Then right before the call for halftime, Loudoun’s Jackson Hopkins put one in the net causing them to lead the game 0-2 at the end of the first 45.
Things started to look up in the second half for Miami when Christian Sorto scored in the 57th minute off a free kick. In the 77th minute, another free kick was awarded to Miami, but nothing came from it. Unfortunately, in the end, it wasn’t enough for Miami to level Loudoun’s score after an action-packed half.
“Ultimately, if you don’t play well enough in a 45-minute stretch, and you go in 2 – nil down, it’s always going to be an uphill battle.” says Miami FC’s coach, Anthony Pulis. Coach Pulis also commented on the performance of the team saying, “I certainly think we deserved to get something from the game, a point if not three with the opportunities that we created in the second half.”
Although last night’s game wasn’t ideal, Miami is looking to put in the work and hopefully secure three points and rise in the standings next week while on their trip to the West Coast against Monterey Bay FC.
