It’s Time to Hit the Links! Foot Golf at Sandia Resort & Casino Golf Club is BACK!

New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are excited to announce their third annual Foot Golf tournament, to be held at Sandia Resort & Casino Golf Club on May 17th. Fans and footgolfers can hit the links at the best golf course in New Mexico, kicking for a cause – raising funds for the Somos Unidos Foundation’s impactful programs across the state.

Every participant will receive:

  • Entry into the 4-person scramble
  • 18 holes of exciting, fun play

The Ball is Back! The Somos Unidos Foundation Launches Year Four of Annual Gala

New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are excited to announce that their annual gala – “The Ball” – is back for year four! The Ball is the single largest annual fundraiser for the Somos Unidos Foundation each year. This year, The Ball will once again be held at the terrific Atlantic Aviation in Albuquerque, in a massive airplane hangar. Doors open at 6 PM on September 26th, and tickets are on-sale NOW! Attendees will enjoy a “Casino Royale” theme, with table games like blackjack, roulette, and even New Mexico United-themed slot machines. While fans won’t be earning real money, there will be terrific prizes throughout the evening, appearances from New Mexico United players and coaches, exciting competitions, and a live auction with unbelievable packages, all aimed at raising money for the programming of the Somos Unidos Foundation.

A LEAGUE FOR ALL! THE SOMOS UNIDOS FOUNDATION & IMPACTFUL PARTNERS LAUNCH NEW MEXICO UNITED TOPSOCCER PROGRAM

New Mexico United, The Somos Unidos Foundation, Fiesta Auto Group, New Mexico Youth Soccer, the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network, and Kraemer Fields are thrilled to announce the launch of New Mexico United TOPSoccer – a free program beginning in Spring 2025 – that brings the Beautiful Game to New Mexicans of every ability level. The six-week program, which will kick off on March 2nd, 2025, will create an exciting, welcoming space for New Mexicans with intellectual, physical, and emotional disabilities, letting them know that soccer is for them.

Each Sunday, between March 2nd and April 6th, 2025, at Kraemer Fields in Albuquerque, more than 100 athletes, buddies, and coaches will come together to play soccer, compete in a fun, welcoming environment, and learn the game of soccer together. The season will culminate on April 6th with the New Mexico United TOPSoccer Festival, featuring fun, exciting activities for athletes and families alike.

Each athlete will be assigned a volunteer, trained “Buddy,” who is typically a little older and neurotypical. This Buddy works with their player individually and makes sure they are safe, engaged, supported, and having fun. The player-Buddy relationship is maintained throughout the course of a season, resulting in strong interpersonal bonds and an establishment of trust and confidence that allows each player to achieve their full potential.Registration for athletes, coaches, and buddies are open NOW! NEW MEXICO UNITED ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF FIVE PLAYERS TO ACADEMY ROSTER

New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are pleased to announce the addition of five New Mexicans to the club’s Academy roster, effective immediately. Kyle Hofmann, Garner Wolfe, Charlie Groves, Diego Ocon-Lopez, and Fabian Mata are the newest additions to the roster, and are eligible to play in this weekend’s home academy match.

Kyle Hofmann is a defender from Sandia Park, New Mexico. He attends East Mountain High School, and has played his club soccer at Barca Residency Academy.

Garner Wolfe is a midfielder from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attends La Cueva High School, and has played his club soccer at Rio Rapids Soccer Club.

Charlie Groves is a midfielder from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attends Albuquerque High School, and has played his club soccer at Barca Residency Academy.

Diego Ocon-Lopez is a goalkeeper from Santa Fe, New Mexico. He attends the Academy for Technology and the Classics, and has played his club soccer at Rio Rapids Soccer Club.

Fabian Mata is a forward/midfielder from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attends Albuquerque High School, and has played his club soccer for New Mexico Rush.

NEW MEXICO UNITED LAUNCHES “KICK OUT CANCER” KIT TO BENEFIT PINK WARRIOR HOUSE FOUNDATION

New Mexico United is proud to partner with Presbyterian and UNMH’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology programs, and the Pink Warrior House Foundation to present the “Kick Out Cancer” kit, an incredible, vibrant pink jersey that will be available for purchase next week. Proceeds from the sale of this jersey will go directly to support the Pink Warrior House Foundation, who supports breast cancer patients and their families, as they fight through treatment.

As part of the club’s celebration of our cancer-fighting community, New Mexico United players recently visited patients at the University of New Mexico and Presbyterian pediatric oncology and hematology programs. Each player was paired up with a patient who is currently fighting or recently beat cancer. Instead of wearing their own names on the back of their “Kick Out Cancer” jerseys at October 9th’s match, players will wear the name of the child they were paired up with. These kids will join the players as they walk onto the pitch ahead of the match.

In addition, the players’ match-worn jerseys will be auctioned off online, with proceeds also benefitting the Pink Warrior House Foundation. A very limited number of “Kick Out Cancer” jerseys will be available for purchase on October 9th, the day of the “Kick Out Cancer” match, while the majority of the jerseys will be made available for purchase at the match at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park.

NEW MEXICO UNITED ANNOUNCES ACADEMY CONTRACT SIGNING OF SANTA FE-NATIVE DEREK LOZANO

New Mexico United is thrilled to announce the signing of the twelfth academy contract player in club history. Forward Derek Lozano, who has spent the two seasons playing for the New Mexico United Academy, is now eligible to play matches with the first team.

“We are so proud of Derek, and this terrific opportunity that he has earned,” said United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “In training with the first team, Derek has shown his quality, and his character, and we are excited to welcome him in. Every New Mexican should be proud of this young man.”

Lozano has trained with the United first team throughout this season, and has had more public moments with the squad, as well: Earlier this year, Lozano scored a goal in United’s Black & Yellow Preseason Scrimmage. He also drew a penalty in United’s International Friendly against Liga MX’s FC Juarez. 

Prior to joining the United Academy, Lozano, like many other elite talents, felt he had to go out-of-state to find the level he needed, and joined Colorado Rapids Academy. Upon the creation of the United Academy, Lozano was able to come home and play at an elite level. He attended high school at Santa Fe High and New Mexico Connections Academy.

As an academy contract player, Derek will play in Academy games and tournaments, but will also be eligible to compete with the first team in the USL Championship. Like every academy player, Derek’s costs including equipment, training and travel will be completely scholarshipped. Players who sign academy contracts represent the best of the best youth players in New Mexico and will be trailblazers for the next generation of New Mexican players.

NEW MEXICO UNITED ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF NEW MEXICAN JACKSON DUBOIS TO FULL PRO CONTRACT

New Mexico United is thrilled to announce that the club has signed New Mexican, La Cueva High school grad, and United Academy product Jackson DuBois to a professional contract, making him the second player in New Mexico United history to complete the path from United Academy player, to Academy contract player, to full professional contract.

“Jackson has put in the hours, the energy, and has dedicated himself to being the best version of Jackson every time he wears our shield,” said New Mexico United Head Coach Eric Quill. “We are so proud of the young man he has become, on and off the field, and we are incredibly fortunate to have someone like that wearing our colors.”

DuBois is also an 18-year old Albuquerque-native. He played his high school soccer at La Cueva High School, and played club soccer at Rio Rapids. He joined the United Academy in 2022 and earned an Academy contract – allowing him to play for both the United Academy and First Team – in March of this year.

When DuBois joined the United Academy in 2022, he said that his dream was to be a professional soccer player. The signing of a pro contract represents the completion of that Path to Pro. DuBois becomes just the second player in United history to complete that journey, joining Albuquerque-native Cristian Nava, who became a professional in 2022.

NEW MEXICO UNITED & THE SOMOS UNIDOS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE 2024 ACADEMY SCHEDULE

New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are excited to unveil the New Mexico United Academy’s 2024 schedule. The season kicks off in just three days, as United Academy takes on Barca Arizona on the road on May 4th at 6:30 PM.

“The New Mexico United Academy has defined United’s ethos of hard work, humility, diligence, and action over the past three seasons, earning a postseason berth in every year of our existence,” said United Academy Head Coach David Estrada. “We are excited to take on elite academy clubs from across the nation, and continue to show the world what New Mexicans are made of.”

United will take part in ten matches in USL Academy league play this season. Those matches are listed below:

United hopes to qualify for the USL Academy Playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. That tournament will take place at the end of the season in Tampa.
