In this week's 5 in 5 we catch up with NCFC defender, Kareem Moses.
Kareem Moses is a 27-year-old defender from Trinidad and Tobago. He has been capped six times with the Trinidad and Tobago National Team, logging nearly 700 minutes of play for the international side since 2012. He played for three different teams in his home country over five years before signing his first North American contract in 2014. Moses spent two seasons with FC Edmonton before joining NCFC in 2016. This season, the defender has appeared in six games, starting three.
- What is your favorite goal celebration?
“The one from Puerto Rico with James [Marcelin]. It’s a weird dance, I can’t explain it, but it’s my favorite.”

- What is your favorite pre-game meal?
“I get a bowl at Chipotle with extra meat, double rice, black beans and pinto beans. It’s solid.”
- What do you like to do when you aren’t playing soccer?
“I like to give Tiyi [Shipalane] a lot of trouble. I make a lot of jokes about Tiyi for being old. I also like to go for long walks.”
- What do you have in Trinidad that you wish you could have here?
“I definitely wish I could have my son here. I’ve got the sun and the good weather here, but I’d like to have my son here.”
- What are your goals for this season, both individually and for the team?
“Individually, I think I’m at 75 appearances and I’d like to hit a century, if I can get there. As a team, I’d like to win a championship and bring a trophy back home to North Carolina. I’ve never won a major trophy outside of Trinidad, so I’d like to do that.
Kareem Moses and North Carolina FC will be back in action this weekend, as the team travels to face the New York Cosmos at MCU Park in Brooklyn on Saturday, June 10. The team returns home for the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup to face the Houston Dynamo of the MLS on Wednesday, June 14 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park.
