CARY, N.C. (March 14, 2018) – North Carolina FC has strengthened its backline with the addition of a familiar face. The club will welcome back veteran defender Futty Danso pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and league and federation approval.
 
“We’re happy to sign him,” said North Carolina FC Head Coach Colin Clarke. “He’s been with us before and knows what’s expected. He’s someone that is going to bring size and presence to the backline. He’s a good defender. We’re happy to have him back and he’s going to be a big help to us defensively.”
 
“I’m happy to sign again with a club that has given me a lot,” said Danso. "I’ve been connected since my PDL days here. I’ve seen what the club has accomplished in the Triangle area and I’m excited to see it continue to grow. Going into the season, the only reason you play is to win. That’s the only thing we want accomplish this year – winning the league. That’s the goal for the team and that’s what I’m here to do.”
 
Danso returns to the area after playing for North Carolina FC in 2015. During his previous season at the club, the center back played 1,450 minutes in 19 appearances and scored one goal.
 
Danso has journeyed through the ranks of professional soccer in North America during his career. Most notably, Danso logged six years with the Portland Timbers, which included a move from the USSF Division 2 to MLS. He’s also made additional stops with the Montreal Impact and Rayo OKC.
 
Following the 2016 season, Danso took his talents to Malaysia where he spent the 2017 season with Kelantan FA in the Malaysia Super League. Danso played 1,980 minutes in 22 matches.
 
Prior to starting his professional career, the Gambian international played college soccer at North Carolina Wesleyan and Southern Polytechnic State University. He also featured for NCFC U-23 in the Premier Development League.

Cary, NC (March 13, 2018) – With North Carolina FC and the NC Courage set to begin their 2018 campaigns, the North Carolina Football Club has been hard at work in the offseason to ensure fans have the best possible experience at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. From more convenient kickoff times to enhanced concessions and in-stadium fan events, the club’s offerings will be sure to satisfy all soccer fans who attend games.
 
We asked, you answered
At the end of 2017, North Carolina Football Club members were asked to vote on two items pertaining to fan experience. Season ticket, Flex and NCFC Youth members were asked to vote on preferred start times for evening games as well as the name of the new NC Courage mascot. The NC Courage mascot will be unveiled in the coming days, while an NCFC mascot is in the works and will debut later in the season. Additionally, an overwhelming majority of the club’s members voted for 7:00 p.m. kickoff times resulting in a standard evening start time of 7:00 p.m.
 
New in-stadium initiatives
This season, the club will be introducing several initiatives that will enhance the fan experience at games. New concession menu items, special corporate VIP ticket packages, in-stadium vendors and a game-day host are new elements that will boost the club’s fan experience at each home game. Below are details on these new offerings for 2018.

• Concessions: North Carolina Football Club’s longtime partner Backyard Bistro will be introducing tacos, philly cheese steaks and brick oven pizza. Additionally, vendors will be roaming the stands with beer, soft drinks and snacks so that fans will not have to leave their seats during the match. This season, fans will also be able to purchase 16oz cans of Lonerider’s NCFC Captain’s Lager at concession stands throughout the stadium.
• Merchandise: New for this season, fans will be able to purchase NCFC or NC Courage apparel outside the stadium, prior to gates opening. A merchandise tent will be placed outside the gates near the will-call and express sales tables starting at 4:00 p.m. for night games and at 12:30 p.m. for afternoon games. The tent will remain open until all fans are inside the stadium (approximately 20 minutes into the first half).
• Far Post Pavilion: This year, the club is offering an enhanced corporate season ticket that includes access to a special VIP tent, located in the southwest corner of the stadium, to network or to relax and play exclusive tailgate-style games such as corn hole. NCFC will purchase two free drinks in the tent to all Corporate Ticket Members at every game. In addition, there will be a rotating course of food options available for purchase.
• In-Stadium Host: Starting this year, the club’s own Kelly Glendenning will serve as in-stadium host. She will be greeting fans entering the stadium from the video board and conduct contests and brief interviews during breaks in the game to further enhance the fan experience

Game days turn into events
In 2018, home games will turn into events as the club has planned different themes and promotions surrounding each game. March promotions are as follows:
 

• Saturday, March 17 – NCFC Home Opener vs Tampa Bay Rowdies 3:30 p.m. St. Patrick’s Day – $3 green beer, corned beef concession specials and more.
• Saturday, March 24 – NC Courage Home Opener vs Portland Thorns 3:30 p.m. NWSL Championship Rematch & Kicks 4 Kids.
• Saturday March 31 – NC Courage vs. Sky Blue FC 3:00 p.m. Egg Hunt, Used Sports Equipment Drive sponsored by Mix 101.5.

Giving back to the community 
The club has always kept community outreach at the forefront of its core values and this season is no different. While some initiatives to raise fund and awareness for causes near and dear to the organization will be announced at a later date, the club is offering fans the opportunity to help the cause by rounding up to benefit Kicks 4 Kids (which provides tickets to underprivileged children who wouldn’t be able to attend games). Fans will have an option to “round up” their purchase by making a donation when purchasing individual tickets online or in person at the box office.
 
Stadium policies
The club is also announcing some new stadium policies for 2018.
 

• Free Parking: Just like last season, parking will be free for regular season games at WakeMed Soccer Park in all areas except lots B and C.
• Soccer balls may be brought in for autograph purposes but must be deflated.
• Backpacks with multiple pockets are not allowed. Only single pocket backpacks will be permitted in stadium.
• No outside food or drink will be allowed. 
• Empty water bottles no larger than 32oz are allowed to be brought in and filled at the multiple water fountains found inside the stadium.
• Cameras with detachable lenses will not be allowed in the stadium.

Ahead of the United States Men’s National Team matchup at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., on Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. against Paraguay, the North Carolina Football Club hosted USMNT Head Coach Dave Sarachan on Wednesday, Feb., 28.

Sarachan spent the day at various media functions discussing the match and the symbiotic relationship between the Triangle area and the upcoming visit from the USMNT in March. In addition to praising the virtual sell out of the match and the Triangle’s support for soccer, Sarachan was particularly complimentary of North Carolina Football Club Owner Steve Malik.

"This area is a model in terms of the country and moving [soccer] forward,” said Sarachan. “We need 100 Steve Malik's around this country in terms of what he's put into this area and done for the sport in this area."

In addition to the media rounds, Sarachan had a first-hand look at North Carolina Football Club, as he met with coaches from NCFC Youth and the NC Courage and NCFC U.S. Soccer Development Academy Programs.

Sarachan concluded his visit with a Q&A at London Bridge Pub in Downtown Raleigh with soccer fans.

Alex will certainly challenge for the starting position along with Austin [Guerrero]. He brings USL experience from Charleston. I’m excited to have him here. He’s a good addition to our squad and his signing creates a competitive battle between him and Austin for the starting spot.”
 
“I’m very excited to join North Carolina FC, a club with a great technical staff, high-level, talented players and a strong fan base,” said Tambakis. “I come with great motivation to put my hard work and background to the service of the team. I will give my all to help the club achieve its goals. NCFC has all the attributes to have a strong presence in the USL and win a championship. I can’t wait to share the exciting moments with my teammates and the fans.”
 
The 25-year-old goalkeeper is a former MLS talent and comes to the club after a short stint with Sporting Kansas City. Before being traded to Sporting KC, Tambakis was Atlanta United’s first ever signing. He spent the 2016 season and a portion of the 2017 season on loan with the Charleston Battery and totaled 29 appearances and 2,610 minutes in league play with the USL side during the two-year span.
 
Prior to making the move to the United States, Tambakis developed in the Panathinaikos youth academy and earned a first-team contract with the Greek club in 2011. He spent nearly five seasons with the club, which included loan spells to VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands and Niki Volou FC in Greece. He also appeared for Greece on the international stage and was a member of the Greece U-19 roster for the UEFA U-19 Championships in 2011.

The club has strengthened its attacking unit, as it has agreed to a loan deal with Chivas Guadalajara to bring Daniel Rios to North Carolina FC for the 2018 USL season, pending league and federation approval and receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
 
After coming through the ranks at Chivas, Rios spent the last two years on loan. Chivas loaned the striker to Ascenso MX side Coras de Tepic for the 2016 season and half of the 2017 season before sending Rios out on loan again with Atlético Zacatepec for the final half of the 2017 season.
 
During his time on loan, he featured in 38 matches and played 2,613 minutes in the Ascenso MX – the second division of Mexican soccer. In total, the striker has netted 17 goals between Ascenso MX and Copa MX play.
 
Prior to his loans with Zacatepec and Coras de Tepic, Chvias gave the talented striker two runouts with the first team in Copa MX play. He made his professional debut against Irapuato on Feb. 24, 2015 in Chivas’ 1-0 Copa MX victory. He also featured for Guadalajara Premier – Chivas’ reserve team in 2016 and saw action in 16 matches in the Liga Premier – the third tier of Mexican soccer.

The club has also announced the promotional schedule for its March home games. The promotions will begin with the previously-announced St. Patrick’s Day celebration for North Carolina FC vs. the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, March 17. The club will host Kicks 4 Kids Night the following weekend for the NC Courage home-opener against the Portland Thorns on Saturday, March 24, which also includes a pre-game clinic for youth players. On Saturday, March 31, the NC Courage will host Sky Blue FC. Fans can participate in a pre-game egg hunt and MIX 101.5 will host a used soccer equipment drive and offer a 50% off North Stand vouchers for participation in the equipment drive.

Additionally, following a vote from club members, the North Carolina Football Club has announced its standard evening kickoff time for 7 p.m. for both North Carolina FC and NC Courage matches for the 2018 season. All start times are subject to change. The broadcast schedule will be released prior to the start of the season along with updated kickoff times.

The vote was conducted at the beginning of the year, giving club members the option to pick between 7:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. start times for standard evening games. CARY, N.C. (Feb. 19, 2018) – North Carolina FC continues to secure pieces for its roster ahead of the 2018 USL season, as defender Carson Nsegbe and forward Donovan Ewolo are set to join the team pending league and federation approval.
 
Nsegbe comes to NCFC on a transfer from Cameroonian side Rainbow FC Bamenda. Ewolo will join NCFC on loan from Czech third division side MFK Vyskov. Both signings will occupy international roster spots and are still pending the receipt of their International Transfer Certificate.
 
The young Cameroonian duo is expected to provide increased talent and depth to the North Carolina FC roster. Both players have taken similar journeys and have played with both Rainbow FC and AS Fortuna in the Cameroonian professional ranks. Rainbow FC is a club in Cameroon that has an emphasis on giving many of its young players an opportunity to play professionally in the United States. The USL and MLS have both tapped into the pipeline, signing numerous emerging talents to professional opportunities in the United States.
 
“We’re excited about both of them,” said North Carolina FC Head Coach Colin Clarke. “They’ve only been here a few days, but you can see how hungry they are and how much they want to make it work. They’ve both got great ability and great athleticism. We’re looking forward to seeing them progress, develop and play at the highest level possible. Nsegbe will bring a strong defensive presence to the squad as well as professional experience playing in Cameroon. The defender has also been a regular on Cameroon’s youth national team with call ups at the U-17 and U-20 levels.
 
Ewolo comes to NCFC after several stops both in his home country of Cameroon and abroad. In addition to his time with Rainbow FC and a stint with AS Fortuna, the athletic forward played in Cameroon with Dragon Club de Yaounde in the top division of Cameroonian soccer. Following several trials in Europe, Ewolo signed with MFK Vyskov – a third-division Czech Republic team before joining North Carolina FC on loan this year. Ewolo also boasts international experience with Cameroon and has represented his country since the U-17 level and most recently has played for the Cameroon U-23 team.
