It was another busy week in the world of Rising, but one news story stuck out among all the rest: the team will return to the training pitch on May 11th!
Well, it's not a full training session but a modified one. General Manager Bobby Dulle talked to the Arizona Republic about how the club is taking extra precautions to make sure the training sessions are safe for players and staff.
While that was the best news in the world of Rising, there was plenty of content this week to keep us engaged.
Club content
— The cub kicked the week off celebrating the four major colleges in Arizona with Rising jersey mashups for Sunday Funday. Whether your an alum or a fan, they make for cool wallpapers on your phone!
— Speaking of fun wallpapers, the club couldn't let May the 4th (Star Wars Day) go by without a Star Wars-themed lock screen. Fortunately, the club has a better aim than Stormtroopers. Oh, and there were these psychedelic gems from Design Pickle.
— On Monday, we learned about the musical stylings of midfielder Jordan Schweitzer. We shouldn't be surprised that the Seattle-bred Schweitzer would choose Sublime's "Santeria" as a song to chill to.
— Corey Whelan sat in the Trivia Tuesday chair where he explained what his favorite tattoo is and what tattoo he plans to get next.
— This week the club also looked back on one of its iconic moments: "What's in the Water?"
— And there was a Solomon Asante appreciation post because it's never a bad time to appreciate Solo.
In the News…
— Jack Barmby was featured by BBC Sport, alongside a few other fellow brits, to talk about playing in the United States.
Said Barmby: "I would not be surprised if, in the next few years, Phoenix ends up in MLS, so I signed because I want to be part of that journey, even if I only experience the beginning of it."
— Speaking of Brit, Tribal Football did a deep dive on defense Corey Whelan and his decision to come to the U.S. and play for Rising.
Said Whelan: "I could've signed maybe for a Premier League 2 team and done the whole U23 and gone back on loan. But I just wanted to enjoy a bit of structure in my life, so I made the decision to focus on senior football and getting as many games as possible."
