(PHOENIX) October 3, 2017 – Phoenix Rising FC midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips was named to the United Soccer League Team of the Week for Week 28. This is the 13th time a Phoenix Rising FC player has been named to the team of the week this season and the second time Wright-Phillips has received the honor. He was named to the Team of the Week for Week 8. This is also the sixth consecutive week a Phoenix Rising FC player has been recognized by the league with a Team of the Week or Team of the Week Honorable Mention honor.
Wright-Phillips scored the game-winning goal for Rising FC in the club’s 2-0 win over Portland Timbers 2 on September 27. That win also clinched the club’s first-ever playoff spot. Wright-Phillips also provided the assist on Jason Johnson’s insurance goal later in the match.
Phoenix Rising FC returns home tomorrow, October 4, at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex to take on Tulsa Roughnecks FC. The match will kick off slightly earlier, at 7:00 p.m. Fans will be able to purchase select beers for just $1 for the evening. College students can also get free tickets to the match by showing a valid college ID.
The match is also USLs Game of the Week and will be streamed live online on ESPN3. Fans can also watch live on television locally on YurView Arizona, Cox channels 4 & 1004 (Phoenix) and 7 & 1007 (Tucson).
