Phoenix Rising FC has signed 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot Winner Rémi Cabral on loan from Colorado Rapids.
Cabral capped last season by scoring three goals for Colorado Rapids 2 in a 22-minute span of the second half to win, 4-2, vs. Minnesota United 2 on September 25. The hat-trick forced a three-way tie in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot race. Cabral finished the season with 19 goals in just 1,410 minutes of regular-season action, making his goal output per 90-minutes played, 1.217.
Phoenix Rising FC has signed defender Juan Carlos Azocar.
Azocar scored two goals in 11 matches for Urartu before joining USL Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC in 2020. He scored one goal for RGV in just 126 minutes of action during the shortened 2020 season. Azocar netted another six goals in 27 matches for the Toros the following season. Azocar enjoyed a breakout season at Oakland in 2022, scoring 10 goals in 35 matches.
Phoenix Rising FC signs Arizona native JP Scearce.
Scearce was named to the USL League One all-league team on October 31 after helping Union Omaha earn its second Players’ Shield in franchise history. Scearce scored six goals and two assists last season while winning 230 duels, 154 recoveries, completing 94 long passes, 63 clearances and creating 25 chances. In four seasons with one of the top USL League One sides, Scearce has appeared in 98 league matches, scored 16 goals and added six assists.
