PITTSBURGH (May 12, 2019) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will enter the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, facing the Dayton Dutch Lions at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at Highmark Stadium in a second-round showdown.
This match marks a special date in club history, as the Hounds played their first-ever Open Cup game at Highmark Stadium on May 14, 2013 – a 1-1 P (5-4) first round victory against RWB Adria. This Tuesday will mark the sixth-year anniversary of this game.
Like other USL Championship clubs, Pittsburgh enters Open Cup play in the second round of action. The team will look to advance into the third round for the second consecutive season.
On the other hand, Dayton arrives in the second round after defeating Erie Commodores FC, 2-1, on Wednesday, May 8. The USL League Two squad last played the Hounds in 2014, when both were members of the then-called USL Pro. Dayton and Pittsburgh split the 2014 series, each winning one of the two clashes.
Fans can purchase tickets, which start at just $5, at ticketmaster.com. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the Hounds will offer $1 beers up until 7 p.m. kickoff.
