San Antonio FC (9-8-7) will host Swope Park Rangers (9-9-7) at Toyota Field on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. The match marks the second in the span of four days for SAFC as the club looks to earn its first home win against the Rangers.
The match will be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest with Dan Weiss and Tim Hankinson on the call.
SAFC will look to earn an important win at home after falling 0-4 at Phoenix Rising FC on Wednesday. The club is currently in eighth place in the Western Conference standings and within a playoff position, but is level on points with SPR who find themselves in ninth place.
SPR will look to get back into the playoff race with a win on the road. The club previously earned a 3-3 draw at home against Reno 1868 FC on Sunday, but has not earned a win since July 5. In addition, six of the Rangers’ eight losses this season have come when playing on the road.
Home field advantage will be key for SAFC. Seven of the Alamo City club’s nine wins have come at home this season, where they’ve scored 17 of their 28 goals while recording just two losses. SAFC has compiled a home record of 22-7-14 all-time since their 2016 inaugural season, playing SPR to two draws in their two matchups at Toyota Field.
“We’re always excited to play at Toyota Field,” SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. “We have the best fans in the league and they make it a very good environment for us to play in. The players respond well to our supporters’ energy, so we’re looking forward to our fans rallying behind the team as we prepare for another quick turnaround.”
The match marks the second in the span of four days for SAFC. Squad depth will play an important role as the team faces a quick turnaround yet again, while the Alamo City club will also have its newest addition available for selection in midfielder Lance Laing, who joined the club on loan from FC Cincinnati on Thursday.
Following the match on Saturday, SAFC will play five of its next six matches on the road, traveling to face in-state rivals RGV FC on Wednesday, August 29 in yet another midweek match for the club.
