Defender Earns Spot on Team of the Week Bench after 14 Clearances at Colorado Springs
SAN ANTONIO (June 28, 2022) – San Antonio FC defender Jasser Khmiri has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week bench, the league announced today.
Khmiri makes his first appearance on the Team of the Week after 14 clearances in Friday’s 1-0 win at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. The shutout marked the first time this season that a team has held Colorado Springs scoreless, and the seventh time this season SAFC has posted a clean sheet.
Khmiri’s 14 clearances bring his season total to 63, tied for seventh in the league and third on the team.
The Tunisian defender becomes the seventh different SAFC player to earn the honor, and third centerback. Khmiri also marks the 14th time this season a San Antonio player has been selected.
Khmiri and SAFC host FC Tulsa tonight at Toyota Field. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. CT, with tickets still available at SanAntonioFC.com or the San Antonio FC app.
