Adeniran Scored Twice Against Loudoun, Hernandez Scored and Assisted in Two Matches
SAN ANTONIO (August 16, 2022) – San Antonio FC forward Samuel Adeniran and midfielder Nicky Hernandez have been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, the league announced today.
Adeniran scored twice on Wednesday against Loudoun United FC, his second brace of the season. Adeniran’s second goal of the night moved him out of a tie and into sole possession of the team lead for goals scored with seven, and came off of an assist by Hernandez.
Hernandez followed up the midweek performance with a goal against Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday, giving him two goals and two assists on the season. Hernandez also filled in for Mohammed Abu and Fabien Garcia as the team’s free kick specialist, lofting a ball to Jasser Khmiri that was headed on goal and created an own goal in the 2-0 win.
The duo represents the 22nd time this season that a San Antonio FC player has been named to the weekly list. Hernandez previously earned the honor on May 3, while Adeniran makes the list for the first time this season.
SAFC is at home again this weekend, hosting Copa Tejas rival Rio Grande Valley FC. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. CT, with tickets on sale now at SanAntonioFC.com or the SAFC app. The match will also be broadcast on ESPN+ and Bally Sports Southwest Extra.
