Centerback Pair Combined for 17 clearances, Seven Tackles and Six Interceptions
SAN ANTONIO (March 21, 2023) – San Antonio FC defenders Mitchell Taintor and Lamar Batista and have both been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Loudoun United FC.
Taintor had four interceptions, 10 clearances, 12 recoveries and a perfect 3-for-3 in aerial duels. Batista added seven clearances and four tackles, winning all four of his aerial duels in a smothering defensive effort that saw Loudoun fail to attempt a single shot in the second half.
Batista makes the Team of the Week for the second-straight match, with Taintor joining him to give SAFC three appearances through the first two weeks of the season.
Taintor and Batista are back in action on Saturday, with SAFC hosting a 2022 Western Conference Final rematch against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Kickoff from Toyota Field is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, with tickets still available at SanAntonioFC.com or the SAFC app.
