Gomez joins Trinidad & Tobago for CONCACAF Nations League, Jome joins Gambia for AFCON Qualifiers
SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 6, 2023) – San Antonio FC defenders Shannon Gomez and Ismaila Jome have been called up to their respective national teams, the club announced today. Gomez will join the Trinidad & Tobago National Team for upcoming CONCACAF Nations League matches, while Jome joins the Gambian National Team for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Congo.
Gomez has made eight caps with the Trinidad & Tobago national team, including two Gold Cup matches in June. In a 2-0 win over St. Vincent last summer, Gomez tallied the first assist of his National Team career.
Jome made his debut with the Gambian national team last November. Since joining SAFC in June, the defender has assisted twice and appeared in 13 USL Championship matches with the team.
Trinidad & Tobago opens their Nations League slate on Thursday, September 7 against Curaçao at 5:00 p.m. CT. The Gambia can earn a spot in next year’s Cup of Nations for just the second time ever with a win or draw on Sunday, September 10. The match in Morocco kicks off at 2:00 p.m. CT.
