What is Futsal?
Futsal is a fast-paced, indoor version of soccer that’s played with a smaller, harder ball and on a smaller court. Futsal is played 5-a-side, with a focus on skill, technique, and quick decision-making. Here’s a quick breakdown of what makes futsal unique:
Skill Focus: Because of the smaller court and faster pace, futsal emphasizes skills like quick thinking, fast passes, and creative dribbling, making it perfect for improving your technical game. It will be fantastic to join a team and stay in an air-conditioned environment while playing the game we love.
Smaller Court: Futsal is played on a smaller, indoor court (about the size of a basketball court), which leads to more touches on the ball and quicker play.
Smaller Ball: The ball used in futsal is smaller and heavier than a regular soccer ball, which helps players develop better control and precision.
More Action, Less Space: The tight spaces and quick tempo make futsal a great way to develop footwork, passing, dribbling, and overall ball control.
Fewer Players: Played with 5 players on each team (including the goalkeeper), it encourages teamwork and requires players to be versatile—everyone touches the ball more often.
Tormenta FC Academy Futsal Leagues
2025 Summer Season
Get ready for an exciting and action-packed summer of futsal! The Tormenta FC Academy Futsal Leagues will kick off this June and July, bringing together young athletes from various age groups for intense competition and skill development. Here’s all you need to know:
Age Divisions:
- U10: Birth Year 2015, 2016
- U12: Birth Year 2013, 2014
- U14: Birth Year 2011, 2012
- High School: Birth Year 2007 to 2010
League Details:
- Schedule: Games will be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays during June and July.
- Number of Games: Each team will play 8 games plus playoffs.
- Team Schedules: Teams will receive their full game schedule before the first week of play. A coaches meeting will be held to go over the league’s structure.
Special Notes:
- Out-of-town Teams: Teams traveling from outside Savannah are welcome to play on Sundays and will have the convenience of two back-to-back games on their game day.
- Blackout Weeks: Teams can request blackout weeks with no games if needed.
