Devon Park will open its 2025 schedule of events on Friday, February 28, as the Langston Hosea Bell Red Dirt Classic returns to the Softball Capital of the World® for an action-packed two day round robin event. Hosted by Langston University, the tournament will feature a number collegiate programs from across the Midwest, including historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and schools from the state of Oklahoma.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with USA Softball to host this tournament at the premier softball facility in the United States, it has always been our dream to encourage young minority girls of all ages to play softball,” Langston University Director of Athletics Donnita Rogers noted. “This classic was the brainchild of our former head softball coach, Hosea Bell, over seven years ago and we look forward to continuing his legacy by hosting this tournament every year.”

Day One Recap: Hosea Red Dirt Classic
OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2025 Hosea Red Dirt Classic opened with an action-packed slate of games at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex, as teams set the tone for a competitive weekend of collegiate softball.
McPherson kicked off the day with a hard-fought 10-7 victory over Langston, while Mid-America Christian University (MACU) dominated with back-to-back wins, shutting out Bethel 9-0 before securing a 9-1 win over Haskell. Oklahoma Wesleyan (OKWU) delivered a commanding performance, posting a 20-0 shutout over Harris-Stowe and following up with a 6-1 win over Langston.
Nelson University also made its mark, blanking Bethel 8-0 before taking down Haskell 9-4. Oklahoma City University (OCU) wrapped up the day with a pair of strong outings, shutting out Harris-Stowe 13-0 and defeating McPherson 6-0.
With high-powered offenses and dominant pitching performances on display, teams will look to build on their momentum as the tournament continues into Day Two.
