TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week for Week 32 of the 2022 regular season on Tuesday, with Legion FC’s Jonny Dean and Marlon Santos making the cut to cap off a brilliant team display over Indy Eleven to give Birmingham its first home playoff game in the USL Championship Playoffs presented by Hisense.
With the honor, Week 32 marked the fifth time Dean was mentioned In the USL Team of the Week. The versatile right-back’s performance for the Three Sparks on Wednesday against Indy Eleven saw him lead his side in touches (82), chances created (4), passes in the final third (24), and to top it off an assist, an interception, and two clearances.
Santos netted his ninth goal of the season against Indy Eleven, converting from the spot after earning a penalty. Additionally, he led the Legion in dribbles (15), duels won (10), and expected goals (0.93).
