BIRMINGHAM, AL (Oct. 14, 2020) – Birmingham Legion FC announced today that forward Neco Brett has won the 2020 Golden Boot.
Brett, 28, won Legion FC's Golden Boot Award as the team-leader in goals scored in the regular season with nine in 16 matches. By finding the back of the net nine times in just 1042 minutes, or once every 115.78 minutes this season, Brett finished tied for eighth in the USL Championship in goals.
Birmingham’s #11 joined the club in the preseason and hit the ground running. He scored in his first appearance at BBVA Field, February’s friendly vs. Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United FC, setting the tone for the coming year. Brett also finished the season with three assists, a total tied for third-most on the team, and he racked up the second-most shots (23) and chances created (26) for Legion FC in 2020.
Four more 2020 Team Awards will be announced in the coming days, including Defender of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Magic City Brigade Fans’ Choice Award, and Team MVP, as voted by the players.
