Birmingham Legion FC returns home to Protective Stadium on Saturday, July 15 at 6:30 PM CT to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. An important match against one of the hottest teams in the USL Championship, it’s sure to be a good game. You can pick up tickets to the match HERE.
The Black & Gold are coming off of two back-to-back away matches that left Birmingham wanting more. In its loss to San Antonio FC on July 1, Legion led the game in chances on goal but could not convert those chances into goals. Against Las Vegas on July 8, Birmingham held the lead for the majority of the game but let three goals slip to only come out with one point in a 3-3 draw.
Legionnaires Enzo Martinez and Tyler Pasher made the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 18 thanks to their performance against the Las Vegas Lights. Martinez scored one goal and made two assists in the 3-3 draw and Pasher scored one goal. Martinez now leads the Black & Gold in goals scored this season (seven) and ties for the most assists in the league (five). Now that the Legionnaires are back home, they will be looking to give Tampa its first loss in eleven USL Championship matches.

The Rowdies come into this match as one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference, unbeaten in its last 11 USL Championship appearances. Legion will not find it easy to garner points against the Tampa Bay side. Cal Jennings (eight goals) and former Legionnaire JJ Williams (7 goals) will be a challenging attack for the defense to contain. Tampa has scored the most goals in the Eastern Conference (32) and second most across the League. It will not be a side that slips goals either, the Rowdies have let in the third least amount of goals in the Championship (19).
