
The Charleston Battery are pleased to unveil the winners of the 2022 Club Awards.
The slate of awards includes the Lou Salvatore, Sr. Players Award (voted on solely by the players), the Betsy McAdams Award (voted on by club management, candidates include members across the whole organization) and the Tim Hankinson Most Outstanding Player Award (voted on by the fans).

Lou Salvatore, Sr. Players Award: Patrick Hogan
Hogan was selected by his teammates as the player who best exemplified the attitude, reliability, consistency, and character that were vital to the team’s togetherness, on and off the field. Patrick appeared in 14 matches, scoring one goal and captaining the team during the April 5 U.S. Open Cup match, and was a vocal leader throughout the season. He would often captain his squad during intrasquad scrimmages in training.
The honor is named after Lou Salvatore, Sr., a down-to-Earth, loyal, family man whose motto was “work hard and be good.” As an avid sports fan, he always gravitated to players who demonstrated the qualities of the award.

Betsy McAdams Award: Tanner Clay
Tanner was selected by club management as the organization member who best displayed exemplary qualities of the game of soccer, community involvement, sportsmanship and contributions to the club. Promoted to Senior Account Executive before the start of the season, Tanner ranked top five across the whole USL Championship in group tickets sold and revenue. He was additionally honored as among the Harbour Club Future Leaders Class of 2022 by the Harbour Club at West Edge. While an asset to driving sales, this didn’t stop Tanner from giving back to the city as he is involved in various community organizations in the Lowcountry and coaches youth team Charleston United Soccer Club.
The award is named after Betsy McAdams, a co-founder of the club and former Battery COO, who passed away in 2009 after a courageous battle against cancer. McAdams was inducted into the USL Hall of Fame (Class of 2010) as a Builder. In addition to players, both club staff and supporters are candidates for this honor

Tim Hankinson Most Outstanding Player Award: Hugo Fauroux
Fauroux won this award after securing just over 57% of the fan vote. In his first season with the Battery, Hugo established himself as one of the league’s premier shot-stoppers – tallying the seventh-most saves (83) in the regular season despite playing in only 22 of 34 matches in 2022. Fauroux additionally won Save of the Week (Week 22) and Save of the Month (August) for his reflex save at Louisville. Off the field, the French goalkeeper embraced the Charleston community with open arms and would often be seen interacting with fans after the final whistle.
The award is named in honor of club co-founder and the first Battery head coach, Tim Hankinson. Coach Hank was a pioneer in American soccer whose career spanned over 40 years and touched numerous clubs at various levels in addition to his time in the Lowcountry.
