The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Charleston Battery Head Coach Ben Pirmann was named to the league’s Week 27 Team of the Week.
Coach Pirmann earns the Coach of the Week honors after the Battery’s sensational 2-1 comeback victory over Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday.
Under his guidance, Charleston rallied for their fifth comeback victory this season, adding to their league-leading total of points won from losing positions (17). The Battery’s adjustments following the interval produced a sterling display that handed Sacramento their first loss after leading at halftime of the year.
Among those adjustments in the second half was the introduction of Emilio Ycaza off the bench, and he went on to score the match-winning goal. It was the 18th goal the Battery have scored in the final 15 minutes and stoppage time this season, most in the league.
The win was Charleston’s 16th of the regular season, one away from matching last year’s total of 17 wins, the most in the club’s USL Championship era.
It is Coach Pirmann’s second appearance to the Team of the Week and brings the Battery’s season total of selections to 28.
Additionally, the trio of Nathan Dossantos, Emilio Ycaza and Nick Markanich earned honorable mentions to the Team of the Week Bench for their performances.
