CHARLOTTE (August 27, 2020) – The Charlotte Independence used a 59th minute volley from Rey Ortiz to defeat North Carolina FC 1-0 at the Sportsplex at Matthews for the first time in USL Championship history.
The goal was a relief, the FC Cincinnati loanee told https://sportsengine-staging.go-vip.net/charlotteindependence, during his post-North Carolina FC press conference at the Sportsplex at Matthews.
"I owed it to my team," said Ortiz. "I felt like I was getting a lot of shots and no end products, so I’m happy that goal led to a win."
