
March 30, 2021 (CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — Charlotte Independence, in conjunction with the USL Championship, announced today its full 2021 schedule.
The upcoming campaign will see the Independence compete in the Atlantic Division alongside Charleston Battery, Hartford Athletic, Loudoun United FC, The Miami FC, New York Red Bulls II, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, and Tampa Bay Rowdies, playing a total of 32 games, 16 home and 16 away.
The Independence will open the 2021 USL Championship regular season on the road against the Rowdies on May 1 in Tampa’s home opener.
The Jacks will also take on the Charleston Battery on May 14 in Charleston's home opener and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on May 22 in Pittsburgh’s home opener.
After four games on the road to start the season, the Independence will host the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, June 5 and then welcome Hartford Athletic on Sunday, June 13 before returning to the road to take on New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday, June 16.
The Jacks are then penciled in for a home clash against the Charleston Battery on Wednesday, June 23. Charlotte will go back on the road to face The Miami FC on June 26 and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on July 3, before hosting three matches in a row against New York Red Bulls II on July 7, Phoenix Rising FC on July 10, and New York Red Bulls II a week later on July 17.
The Independence will kick-off August on the road against Loudoun United FC (Aug. 6). The club will then host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (Aug.14), and Colorado Springs Switchbacks (Aug. 21), followed by a road trip to Tampa Bay Rowdies (Aug. 28).
The Miami FC come to town on Saturday, Sept. 4 before Charlotte heads on the road to face Loudoun United FC on Sept. 8. A home match vs. Hartford Athletic on Sept. 11 is followed by another home match vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Sept. 18.
Following Pittsburgh, the last month of games for the Independence consists of away trips to Birmingham Legion FC (Sept. 26), Hartford Athletic (Sept. 30) and New York Red Bulls II (Oct. 8).
The final three home matches of the regular season will be Oct. 3 vs. Loudoun United FC, vs. Charleston Battery on Oct. 16 and back for the home finale on Oct. 27 against Loudoun United FC.
The Jacks will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Austin Bold FC on Saturday, Oct. 30.

The Independence will make the 2021 campaign its first season at the brand new American Legion Memorial Stadium. The $40 million entire rebuild of the historic venue which began last September is close to completion and is set to open a new chapter for the Jacks.
Located in Uptown Charlotte, the new venue will have a capacity of 10,500 including standing area, and the type of amenities that have become standard at new venues across the Championship in recent years. Among them, a first for the Independence, will be a full video scoreboard and views of the surrounding city skyline that will make for a memorable experience on game-nights and at other events.
