April 1, 2021 (CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — The Charlotte Independence announced today the promotion of Shawn Geiger to the role of Operations Manager. Shawn will work with the Operations team to support the coaching staff and players, including aspects of every-day training, gameday operations, and travel operations.
“Shawn has been a valuable member of our front office team, but as a former player he has a unique experience set that will help him assist Coach Jeffries and the entire team,” said team President and COO, Tim Schuldt. “Shawn’s hard work, servant’s heart and effectiveness in his past roles give us confidence he’s ready to take on more in this important role.”
Geiger started with the team in 2019 as an intern and was recognized for his work ethic and his selfless approach to serve the entire team. In late 2019 he was elevated to the position of Coordinator of Corporate Partnerships & Services and assisted in retaining over 95% of the team’s corporate partners.
"I’m very excited about this new opportunity, said Geiger. "I look forward to serving the coaches and players and hope to be a small part of a ton of success this year, as we transition to our new home, American Legion Memorial Stadium."
Geiger is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University where he played competitive soccer and graduated with a BS in Sports, Entertainment and Event Management. The South Carolina native resides in Charlotte and begins his new duties starting immediately.
