First-ever match-up against the 2024 USL Championship expansion side

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 5, 2024) – Third Round matchups for the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, U.S. Soccer’s annual club championship, were announced yesterday afternoon. The Charlotte Independence will host Rhode Island FC on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
Tickets are now on sale starting at $10 here. Season ticket members and Charlotte Independence Youth Soccer Club members will receive further communication about an exclusive ticket offer for the match soon.
The Independence advanced to the Third Round with a victory in a penalty shootout against South Carolina United Heat on Tuesday. Goalkeeper #1 Austin Pack saved two penalty kicks to secure the win.
Rhode Island FC is making its debut in the U.S. Open Cup as a 2024 USL Championship expansion side. RIFC enters the competition in the Third Round following a 0-2-1 start to their USL Championship season.
