Q&A with ami pineda
What have you enjoyed about your time in Chattanooga?
I love how passionate our fans are. It gives us that little extra push in games. The city is a beautiful place with so many great hikes and scenery.
You’ve been in League One since its inception, same with the club, what advantages does that create for you?
I know how most of the teams play, I know some of the very good players we have in the league and also the style of play some of the teams have. So I can certainly help my teammates out helping them prepare for a game or certain dangerous players. That way we can come into the game knowing what to expect.
You’re becoming one of the more veteran players on the squad, how do you see yourself being an asset to the new signings?
Anything I can do to help my new teammates, I will do. I know how hard it is coming to a new place where you don’t know anything or anyone and most importantly how the this environment is, so with whatever they need I will be there for all of them.
What’s your training routine been like? What have you been up to this offseason?
My training routine has been a bit different because of my injury but that only means I have to work 10x harder from getting my strength back to getting fit again so this off season has been different because it’s not only the soccer part but my recovery and strength part.
What’s it like playing with players and a coach that you’ve had experience with previously as a kid?
Ami played alongside Marky Hernandez, Ricky Ruiz, Ro Pineda for Red Wolves Head Coach Jimmy Obleda during his youth career, winning back to back national championships.
It’s obviously an amazing feeling being able to play with good friends that you grew up playing with and also a coach has developed you most of your life. I can honestly say I’m very fortunate because not everybody can say the got to play with good friends and a great coach.
How do you feel the squad is shaping up this offseason?
I think we’re going to have the best team in the league. I’m familiar with couple of the faces we signed and I know what they bring to the table. I know Jimmy (Head Coach) and Sean (GM & President) have been working really hard to build a championship team.
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
My goal is to win a championship for the city of Chattanooga
