CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (October 30, 2018) – Defender Nicholas Amponsah has signed to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC’s USL League One team, pending league and federation approval. After spending two seasons with Jamaican Red Stripe Premier League’s Montego Bay United FC, Amponsah will join the franchise as it kicks off its 2019 Inaugural Season.
Serving as a central defender for Montego Bay United, Amponsah played an integral role for the club, anchoring the team’s back line and tallying three goals in 18 appearances to date. According to Tim Hankinson, head coach and technical director for Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, he expects nothing less from Amponsah stateside.
“Nicholas is an intelligent, composed central defender who reads the game extremely well,” said Hankinson. “His technical ability and innate quickness out of the defending third makes him a strong addition to our roster.”
A native of Fomena, Ghana, Amponsah spent three seasons with Adansi United FC. Following his time with Adansi United, he captained Ghanaian division two team Achiken FC, where his leadership and talent lead the team to division one qualification.
“It’s a privilege to join Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in USL League One,” said Amponsah. “I am grateful my effort was recognized, and I can’t wait to get started with the team.”
