Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (8-6-8) drew South Georgia Tormenta FC (8-5-8) 1-1 at Erk Russell Park Wednesday night. Forward Sito Seoane notched the equalizer to secure Chattanooga one point on the road.
Tormenta’s Charlie Dennis opened scoring in the 28th minute of the match, finishing off of a long ball in from defender Jordan Skelton. Dennis received the pass down the right flank, dribbled to the inline before cutting the ball back, and slipped a shot past goalkeeper Alex Mangels.
The remainder of the first half would leave Chattanooga unable to answer before going into halftime.
Ten minutes into the second half, Seoane put one away to level the match. Defender Tony Walls nodded the ball back to Seoane off of Vangel Zguro’s free kick service sent in from the left flank. Seoane got his foot on the bouncing ball, slipping it through traffic and into the back of the net. The goal marked Seoane’s fourth of the season.
Forward Yaya Cisse nearly put another one up for the Red Wolves in the 76th after receiving a near perfect through ball in from Zguro, but his shot rolled wide of the right goal post.
Last-minute efforts to seal the match from both sides would ultimately fall short.
Tony Walls and Jonathan Caparelli recorded three tackles and one clearance each, while Zguro recorded two tackles and created three chances during his night on offense.
The draw concludes the regular season series between the two clubs at 2-0-1, with Chattanooga taking seven of the possible nine points. The Red Wolves remain in fourth place in league standings, tied on points with Tormenta and four points shy of second place Lansing Ignite FC.
Chattanooga continues its four-match road-stand as the team travels to Tucson, Arizona to face FC Tucson on Friday, Aug. 30 for the third and final regular season meeting between the two clubs. The series sits at 1-0-1. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET, and the match can be streamed live via ESPN+.
