Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (9-8-9) hosts Richmond Kickers (8-12-5) at David Stanton Field Saturday night.
The team’s playoff hopes are contingent on a win against Richmond and last night’s favorable result for FC Tucson (8-10-9) against Forward Madison FC (11-9-7).
Saturday’s match marks the fourth and final meeting between Chattanooga and Richmond with the series sitting at 2-1-0 in favor of the Red Wolves. Richmond last visited Chattanooga on June 29 and fell to the home side 2-0.
Chattanooga sits in fifth place in League One standings with 36 points, just four points shy of the fourth-place playoff spot currently occupied by Madison. Madison and already eliminated FC Tucson drew 1-1 in their matchup last night at Kino Sports Complex, meaning the Red Wolves are still eligible to clinch the fourth and final playoff spot.
Red Wolves Captain Steven Beattie is unable to see the rest of his season through due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. But the loss of one player brings the return of another. Defender Richard Dixon will take the field on Saturday after his five-month absence due to an injury sustained back in March.
Saturday will also see defender Vangjel Zguro available to play following his one-game suspension after receiving a red card in the team’s match against Lansing Ignite on September 14.
Defender Leo Folla is unavailable to play against Richmond following his red card for two cautionable offenses against Orlando City B last Saturday.
Richmond enters the match missing Wahab Ackwei and Conor Shanosky following their red cards for two cautionable offenses and denial of a goalscoring opportunity.
