Chattanooga Red Wolves SC players Alex Mangels, Ualefi and Captain Steven Beattie named to 2019 USL League One All-League Teams
TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 16, 2019) — USL League One honored standout performers from its inaugural season on Wednesday as it unveiled the 2019 USL League One All-League Teams. Stand out Captain Steven Beattie was named to the 2019 USL League One All-League First Team. Goalkeeper Alex Mangels and Defensive Center Midfielder Ualefi 2019 USL League One All-League Second Team.
Forward Steven Beattie led the Red Wolves with nine goals while also contributing three assists before missing the last three games of the season due to injury. Beattie’s stellar play helped keep the Red Wolves in the playoff race until the final weekend of the regular season.
Goalkeeper Alex Mangels was a force in goal from start to finish of the 2019 season. Mangels recorded a league-leading 85 saves and 42 catches this season. Commonly debated as the best keeper in all of USL League One, Mangels played every minute of every game this year, posting six shutouts and a 69.7 save percentage.
Often overlooked, Ualefi quietly became one of the strongest midfielders in the league over the course of the 2019 USL League One Season. Ualefi ranked seventh in the league with 45 interceptions and completed more than 1,000 passes at an accuracy rate of 85.4 percent on 44.4 passes per 90 minutes, recording 16 key passes for the Red Wolves.
